No hidden catch.

How Panludia is funded, how its integrations work and why every convenience layer remains optional.

01 / FAQ

Free by design

How Panludia stays free and who keeps the infrastructure running.

Is Panludia free?

Panludia is free and built to stay free. There are no subscriptions, paid features or financial incentives behind the project. We currently cover the infrastructure and development costs ourselves.

How is Panludia funded?

Panludia is sponsored by Solvegia, which provides the infrastructure and resources required to operate the platform and maintain its integrations.

Why does Panludia cover the infrastructure costs?

Its founder is genuinely interested in how games can be transformed into new Archipelago experiences. Panludia also operates on an existing, robust infrastructure, which keeps the additional cost of running the project extremely low.

02 / FAQ

Understanding Panludia

What the platform does and what remains completely optional.

What is Panludia?

Panludia is a community workshop for creating and maintaining Archipelago game integrations. Players decide what the locations, items, goals and progression rules should be. The Panludia team turns those decisions into tested, documented and maintained integrations.

Is the Panludia launcher required?

Absolutely not. The launcher is an optional convenience layer for people who want guided installation, configuration, compatibility checks and updates.

Can integrations be installed manually?

Yes. Official integrations are designed to work independently before they are added to the launcher. Their source code, releases and manual installation instructions remain available directly through Forgejo.

Why is launcher access invitation-only?

The launcher is still in private testing. Invitations keep managed rooms and pre-release builds limited to known testers while the service matures.

Public project pages, source code, manual releases and installation guides remain available without a Panludia account.

03 / FAQ

Open projects and participation

Where the work lives and how players can shape it without writing code.

Are Panludia integrations open source?

Yes. Official integrations, their version history, releases and manual installation instructions are published on Panludia's Forgejo instance .

What do the different project statuses mean?
In design
The community is defining the mechanics while Panludia investigates technical feasibility.
In development
The selected mechanics are actively being implemented.
Playable
At least one build is ready for real Archipelago sessions.
Preview release
An early build intended for testing and rapid iteration.
Stable release
A build considered suitable for normal play based on available testing and community feedback.
How does Panludia choose which games to support?

Games are currently selected by the Panludia team through the founders' interests, technical feasibility and the kind of progression each game can offer to a multiworld.

Do I need to know how to code to contribute?

No. Knowledge of the game is often more valuable. You can propose locations or items, discuss progression, vote on decisions, test previews, report bugs and provide balancing feedback. Panludia handles implementation and technical maintenance.

04 / FAQ

Ways to play and unusual names

Compatibility details, plus the joke behind two deliberately strange names.

Are integrations compatible with solo, multiplayer, synchronous and asynchronous play?

When the game allows it, yes. Exact capabilities depend on the game and its technical architecture, so every project page specifies its support for solo or multiplayer sessions and synchronous or asynchronous multiworlds.

Why are they called The forbidden method™ and The Unnecessary Launcher™?

Both names are tongue-in-cheek references to the project's earliest controversies.

The forbidden method™ refers to Panludia's extensive use of AI-assisted development, an approach some people considered unacceptable before examining the actual development and testing process.

The Unnecessary Launcher™ acknowledges that the launcher is technically unnecessary: every official integration can be installed manually. It simply makes installation, removal, configuration and compatibility management suspiciously convenient.
