How the game changes
- Boss defeats, fixed pickups, fishing spots, quest/map-piece rewards and Moon Snail skill purchases become multiworld checks. Receive adaptations, skills, stowaways, upgrades, currency and optional costumes from other games.
- Shells are shuffled among shell discoveries separately from the main item pool. Version 0.5.3 fixes the plug-fuse and Scuttleport dispenser replacement paths, including the case where fuse shuffle is disabled.
- Choose a full Home-shell goal or an earlier finish at Magista, Voltai or Roland. The World removes later areas and adjusts the item pool for shorter goals.
- Adjust early Fork and Shelleport placement, Fishing Line placement, combat/skip logic, the currency multiplier, traps and DeathLink. All New Game+ features should remain disabled for this release.
- Item notifications, optional map/world markers and scouted skill descriptions help track discoveries. Archipelago links separate single-player journeys; the mod does not add native co-op.
Before you start
- Use the current repository README for installation: install BepInEx 5 for the game, place ACTAP.dll in BepInEx/plugins, install another_crab.apworld, generate the room, connect from the main menu and begin a fresh save. The older setup page inside the APWorld contains placeholder links and different loader guidance.
- The 0.5.x client requires the Year of the Crab game update. The maintainer allows updating an existing 0.5.0-or-newer run to 0.5.3; keep a backup first. The APWorld supplied here is byte-for-byte unchanged from 0.5.2.
- Leave NG+ bosses, NG+ stowaways and NG+ capacity disabled: the maintainer still marks these features incomplete. Use the default combat/skip settings for an ordinary route; more permissive modes allow additional techniques.
- Keep each save with its original room and slot, and restart the game when switching runs. The reviewed client stores receipt markers and options in saves but does not independently bind a save to its seed/team/slot.
- Stay connected while collecting checks, and retain backups before changes. Complete recovery of checks, victory and received items after interruptions is not established. One Paperclaw check in Upper Flotsam Vale near the Snail Shell lacks a matching mapping in the reviewed client.
- For rooms requiring confidentiality, use an explicit wss:// address with valid TLS. The embedded connection library can fall back to unencrypted transport for an address without a protocol; the password field is displayed as plain text.
- The review covers tagged C# sources, the DLL and readable APWorld, with matching embedded artwork and the expected DLL source revision. Complete redistribution notices and the artwork’s permission basis were not established. Linux/Proton guidance exists, but no game session or compatibility test was performed here.
