How the game changes
- Turn engrams, creature-taming permissions and supply-crate access into multiworld rewards. Explorer notes, tame/kill/breed actions, resources, artifacts, level milestones and map exploration supply checks.
- Build through four crafting tiers, with configurable station placement and item grouping. Structure and saddle bundles can reduce the number of individual unlocks; check-density options adjust tame, food and note coverage.
- Choose named boss objectives on the enabled maps. The supplied World includes map-filtered rules for The Island, Scorched Earth, Ragnarok, The Center, Valguero and Fjordur; some maps require a cluster with enough checks and an available boss goal.
- Version 0.3.1 adds quoted slot names to the in-game connection command and changes the Unicorn and Yeti class matching used by kill checks. It also includes revised artifact/cave, creature and resource requirements in the APWorld.
- Use a shared AP slot for the dedicated server, or the documented experimental per-survivor mode. Optional DeathLink, hostile-creature traps, spawn randomization and PopTracker support change how the journey plays.
Before you start
- This is ARK: Survival Evolved for Windows with a dedicated server, not Survival Ascended. The maintainer targets the Pre-Aquatica branch (v358.24) on both game client and server, with ArkServerApi and BattlEye disabled for the modded setup.
- Install the matching ArkAP_plugin.zip and ark_ase.apworld from v0.3.1 and use its ark.yaml. The native plugin connects from game chat; no separate connector is required for that route. Use the current README: the older Getting Started guide still lists missing/renamed assets and understates map support.
- The World contains several supported maps, but generation rejects combinations without sufficient data/checks or an available boss goal. The default remains The Island. Per-survivor play is experimental and some crate/boss behavior remains shared.
- Keep backups of the game save, plugin state and connection files before upgrading, switching rooms or resetting. They form separate state stores; changing the AP seed can clear local AP progress without making an existing survivor/save match the new run.
- Traps default to 25% of filler and can spawn hostile creatures. Set trap_percentage to 0 for a gentler run. Spawn randomization changes server configuration and requires the documented restart/confirmation workflow.
- Use a trusted AP room and protect the dedicated server directory. Connection passwords are stored locally in plaintext, and the native connection does not enforce encrypted-only transport even when a secure scheme is entered. Avoid reusing sensitive passwords.
- The APWorld matches a later source revision and the native DLL carries the expected build marker, but the v0.3.1 tag points to older source. Complete DLL/launcher build reproduction and redistribution permissions for all bundled third-party media/components were not established. The separate launcher is optional; this review did not run it or a game session.
