How the game changes
- Even character levels, major bosses and completed quests send checks. Achievement checks and shop purchases are configurable, and shorter goals trim later locations.
- Choose one of six major bosses, all bosses, all tracked quests or level 32 as the goal. The inspected default is Slime Diva, despite an outdated comment naming Galius.
- Area access uses separate Progressive Sanctum Portal and Progressive Tuul Portal lines by default. Random Portals replaces those lines with individual area and dungeon-floor unlocks.
- Gated equipment distributes progressive gear lines; unrestricted equipment shuffles individual pieces. Optional class filtering limits class-specific gear without removing universal items.
- Received equipment and consumables are collected from Spike's storage. Crowns and portal unlocks apply directly; logical quest or level events are not physical loot.
- Profession tools may stay on their original checks or enter the item pool. Only the first fishing-rod or pickaxe purchase sends its shared check; later purchases remain normal.
- XP and crown income can be adjusted separately. The supplied Short Run preset targets Slime Diva with doubled XP, gated gear and achievements disabled; Boss Hunter targets all bosses.
- The mod retries unexpected disconnections and rechecks saved quest and level progress after reconnect. Intentional save-and-quit disconnects do not trigger automatic reconnection.
Before you start
- This is an actively developed preview, not a stable release. Use the APWorld and game DLL from the same GitHub release with Archipelago 0.6.7 or later.
- Release 0.2.2 still declares world version 0.2.0 internally. Thunderstore uses a separate package number, 0.2.4; do not infer compatibility from the displayed numbers alone.
- Install BepInEx 5.4 and the plugin, or use the maintainer's r2modman profile instructions. The mod manager does not install the APWorld into Archipelago for you.
- Enter room details in Settings > Archipelago, then create or load a character before pressing F5. The connection cannot start from the main menu without a loaded save.
- Use a separate character and keep backups for each run. Resending saved milestones after reconnect is documented, but complete offline delivery and all co-op combinations are not independently verified.
- Shop checks are not immediately available at the start: the current release gates them behind the normal Catacombs portal progression. More XP does not replace required portal or equipment items.
- DeathLink is described as a client setting, but the released APWorld options do not expose a DeathLink field. Do not assume that a YAML toggle alone enables it.
- Only the Windows Steam setup is established here. A general mod-manager reference to Linux is not proof that this integration works under Proton.
