How the game changes
- Checks can include levels, named enemies, Vault Symbols, vending purchases, quests, red chests, Badass challenges, gear discoveries and generic-enemy drops.
- Gear licences gate equipment by type and rarity. Receiving a licence can also deliver matching gear. Quest rewards may instead be distributed through the multiworld.
- Progressive Jump and Sprint restore movement in stages. Money-cap and backpack upgrades expand capacity; travel can unlock individual regions or ordered groups.
- Choose a named boss target or a custom set of location goals. Region, DLC, raid-boss and level filters shorten or extend the route independently.
- Missable and co-op-only checks can be removed. The supplied short base-game preset targets rescuing Roland and removes later areas and raid bosses.
- Optional DeathLink can cause near-fatal damage, Fight For Your Life or death. Outgoing links may be tied to death, being downed or even saving and quitting.
- Filler includes gear, skill points, currency, experience and storage upgrades. Spawn traps require Digistruct Peak; candy requires Bloody Harvest.
Before you start
- Install Mod Manager 3.8 or later and coroutines 1.1 or later, then the matching SDK mod and APWorld 0.5.5. Archipelago 0.6.7 or later is required. Connect the Borderlands 2 Client before opening the game.
- Keep generator, client APWorld, SDK mod and YAML versions matched. Do not update mid-run. Fully restart both game and client when switching slots, and restart the game before returning to unmodded play.
- Back up characters and use a fresh Normal-mode character. Some presets delete starting gear. UVHM is an advanced override, not the recommended first experience.
- The short base-game preset is not automatically DLC-free: it still enables candy and all rarity licences. Follow the no-DLC checklist if you lack expansions, removing their checks, rewards, candy, traps and unavailable rarity tiers.
- Avoid saving and quitting in Sanctuary, where received loot can disappear. The maintainer recommends an open area such as Three Horns Divide and documents resending lost items from the mod menu.
- For a conservative run, keep enemy-level scaling disabled, remove co-op and missable checks, and avoid bleeding-edge Fully Unlocked Mode. Reports identify optional scaling, quest access and DLC logic problems.
- Plan B may require purchasing Earl's bank upgrade. The maintainer documents a temporary mod-disable workaround if the fuel cell still does not arrive. Vending checks may need a save and reload.
- The reviewed published assets establish Borderlands 2 on Windows only. References to The Pre-Sequel in the repository do not establish a matching TPS release, and Steam's native Linux or macOS editions are not certified here.
