Cat QuestArchipelago randomizer mod

Explore Felingard with your next Royal Art or spell waiting in another world. Quest completions exchange rewards, while several magic-upgrade modes change how the cat adventurer grows stronger.

How the game changes

  • Quest completions send checks. Optional visits to temples and monuments expand exploration checks; both are enabled by default in the current world.
  • Royal Arts of Water Walking and Flight, spells and the Golden Key are received through Archipelago rather than earned from their usual quests. Gold and experience can also arrive from other worlds.
  • Questlines become available earlier, but traversal and magic requirements still matter. The questboard indicates logical availability; seeing a quest does not mean the current inventory can finish it.
  • Four skill-upgrade modes are available: spend coins normally, receive repeated progressive copies of each spell, receive separate spell-specific upgrades, or receive shared Magic Levels that improve acquired spells.
  • Magic Levels is the default. Each spell has its own initial unlock, followed by nine shared upgrades; this differs from receiving ten copies of every individual spell.
  • Five goals support the main story, all quests, level 99, story plus level 99, or all seven spells at level ten. The main story is the default.
  • Quest experience and coin rewards can remain enabled alongside multiworld rewards. Both default on; an older overview saying quests never grant them predates these options.

Before you start

  • The guide specifically requires the English-language, 32-bit Steam game. The documented GOG, Epic and Amazon editions are 64-bit and are not substitutes for this setup.
  • Install BepInEx 5 x86, version 5.4.20 or later, launch once, then extract the mod ZIP's contents directly beside Cat Quest.exe. Do not install BepInEx 6 or use the x64 loader.
  • Use game mod 0.3.1-alpha with APWorld 0.3.0-alpha. The world lists Archipelago 0.6.4 as its minimum, but its prerelease suffix is not a valid numeric world_version for newer manifest validation; expect a warning rather than treating the metadata as modernized.
  • Only one game save is available. Starting a new Archipelago adventure permanently replaces the previous save unless you back it up yourself; this is not a multi-slot save manager.
  • If the installation has never saved a game, play until the first vanilla save, return to the menu and choose New Game again. The Archipelago start button appears through that flow or New Game+; enter room information there.
  • Continue reconnects to the previously used slot. The mod also stores room information and its received-item index locally; do not publish the RoomInfo.json file because it can contain the room password.
  • Disabling quest experience can create substantial grinding, especially for level-99 goals. Prefer the main-story goal with quest rewards enabled for a first run.
  • No DeathLink option is exposed by this APWorld. Windows is the established 32-bit mod route; macOS Steam availability and generic loader instructions are not proof of macOS or Proton integration support.
  • The project remains alpha and public issue creation is restricted. These source and documentation checks do not establish compatibility with every future game update or an independently completed Panludia playthrough.
