Chained EchoesArchipelago randomizer mod

Rebuild your party through a multiworld: character skills, stat boosts, equipment and key items arrive from other games. Separate randomizer options can also change which abilities and weapon types each character uses.

How the game changes

  • Chests and other mapped rewards send locations to Archipelago. Key items open side routes, while the generation logic models main-story progression through required character skills and stat boosts.
  • Character skill, passive and boost items advance the corresponding character's upgrades. Numbered copies have distinct Archipelago IDs; similar rewards are not all represented by one repeatable item ID.
  • Equipment, consumables, key items and Sky Armor rewards join the item pool. Progressive equipment delivery advances through the matching equipment category rather than simply awarding another identical weapon.
  • Character starting stats, growth, boost values, weapon types, active skills and passives have separate YAML settings. Most randomization toggles are on by default, so the default campaign changes much more than chest contents.
  • Sky Armor skills and boosts, plus class-emblem stats, skills and passives, can be randomized separately. Tier-one weapons can be added for weapon types that normally appear later.
  • The F7 connection window loads the seed and options from Archipelago. Saved location markers are resent after loading, and the client rechecks received items. The game's end event reports completion to the server.

Before you start

  • Use the matching 1.1.0 mod and chainedechoes.apworld releases from the two linked repositories. Install BepInEx 6.0.0-pre.2 for Unity IL2CPP Windows x64, launch once, then copy the release files to their documented locations. The database text files belong beside the game executable, not inside plugins.
  • Only the documented Windows mod route is listed. The base game's Linux and macOS releases do not establish compatibility with this Windows IL2CPP plugin.
  • Back up saves and start a dedicated new campaign for each room. Connecting to a different server or slot deliberately closes the game after a ten-second countdown so the options can reload. This is not a complete seed-and-save binding guarantee; do not switch rooms while using an existing campaign.
  • The maintainer warns that certain randomized skills can freeze or crash when used by particular characters. A conservative starting point is randomize_character_skills: false, which keeps native skill assignments while retaining Archipelago skill delivery. This reduces that specific source of risk, not every possible crash.
  • Keep the Archipelago server available while playing: the guide associates chests that will not open with a missing connection. Save markers help resynchronize after loading, but do not prove lossless offline play or recovery from every interruption.
  • RandomizerOptions.txt stores connection settings, including the optional room password, in plain text. Do not share it with logs or screenshots. The inspected address parser strips explicit WebSocket schemes, so encrypted remote transport is not independently established by this review.
  • The APWorld's modeled progression and the game's completion report are separate. This review did not establish an explicit AP generation completion predicate or validate every advanced option combination. Native co-op and DeathLink are not claimed; no independent campaign or security certification is provided.
