How the game changes
- The default Farsite Expedition campaign provides 236 checks across 20 missions, including Ever After. Checks cover individual caches, totems and nullify targets, plus reclaim/custom objectives and mission completion.
- Optional SPAN Experiments mix 26 additional maps into the selection pool. A seed still selects 20 missions with Founders as its finale; it does not require playing all 46 maps.
- Mission and unit unlocks, progressive ERNs, ERN port upgrades and energy improvements arrive from the multiworld. Two to six eligible missions start unlocked. Version 0.2.1 corrects early-weapon and mission-unlock placement, including solo and mixed-world openings.
- Choose Standard, Casual or Easy logic. Casual introduces anti-air requirements earlier; Easy also requires a broader weapon set from the later campaign missions. These change progression assumptions rather than directly reducing enemy strength.
- Founders requires a configurable number of other mission completions, twelve by default. Optional checks remain separate from beating a mission. SPAN maps can count toward that completion gate when enabled.
- Six generated trap types and beneficial one-shot items affect the current mission. Trap frequency is adjustable down to zero; temporary effects, ERN upgrade ceilings and economy upgrades have configurable limits.
- An in-game connection panel, mission tracker and message box show room and check progress. A local cache supports offline play and queues explicit offline checks, while reconnect recovery has the limits described below.
Before you start
- Install the matched 0.2.1 plugin and APWorld, then regenerate the room. The release changes early placements, so an old seed number can produce a different layout. Existing YAML options remain accepted; the new shorter template makes active settings easier to find.
- Requires the Windows Steam game and BepInEx 6 IL2CPP win-x64 version 6.0.0-pre.2, with Archipelago 0.6.7 or newer for generation. Launch once after installing the loader, quit, then extract the mod next to CW4.exe and configure the menu connection panel.
- SPAN is experimental and off by default. Its requirements were derived from map data; practical routes, advancing Creeper and environmental hazards have not all been confirmed by completed seeded playthroughs. Keep it off for the more established campaign route.
- Early Weapon requests earlier access to the chosen Cannon or Mortar. Very narrow openings may prioritize a mission unlock, and the other weapon is not guaranteed early. Easy and Casual are logic choices, not automatic combat-difficulty reductions.
- Back up the entire Documents/My Games/creeperworld4 folder before installation or changing slots. The mod moves Farsite saves into per-slot archives and can replace existing destination files. A failed move has no complete rollback, and cache writes are not atomic.
- Keep game saves and their Archipelago cache together and switch rooms only from the menu. Version mismatches produce a warning rather than a refusal; do not rely on that warning to prevent an incompatible save or component combination.
- Explicit offline progress is queued, but a displayed local check does not guarantee server acknowledgement. Verify important checks and victory after a dropped connection. Interrupted sends, cache identity recovery and repeated item history remain review limitations.
- Trap share defaults to half the non-progression slots, which can be disruptive in solo play. Lower it or set it to zero if desired. Emitter Overdrive and three old filler-weight settings are accepted for compatibility but hidden because they do not affect generated items.
- The BepInEx configuration contains the room password, and logs include room details and chat. Keep those files private and redact them before sharing. Bare server addresses can fall back to an unencrypted connection.
- Uninstalling the DLL does not restore the ordinary campaign automatically: follow the separate vanilla-save restoration instructions and preserve the archive. Linux, DeathLink and native shared-save co-op are not established by this release.
