How the game changes
- Chests and selected story rewards send checks. Add quest rewards, shop purchases and completed plant entries independently.
- Elements, shades, passes and keys enter the pool. Area unlocks can remain individual or follow progressive dungeon, overworld, separate or combined chains.
- Choose the Creator, Son of the East, Observatory questline or the DLC's Gods of Shape as your goal. Optional Vermillion gates require bosses, shades or both.
- Bundle each dungeon's keys into a keyring, randomize chest locks or use progressive equipment. Item-locality options determine where elements and keys may appear.
- Shop checks can count each item type or each shop slot, separately from the chosen shop-unlock rules. This changes the amount of shopping and the role of received permits.
- Chest colors and symbols distinguish item categories, while analyze mode identifies an unopened check. Quest and shop dialogs can generate hints.
- The required open-world mod and Randomizer Start skip the opening sequence. New Game+ multipliers can reduce grinding without carrying old inventory into the run.
- Release 0.9.8 separates shop hints from the quest-hint setting, recognises alternate plant forms when completing botanics, improves overlapping chest markers and adds keyboard/controller navigation to the Archipelago menus.
Before you start
- The author strongly recommends finishing vanilla CrossCode first. Randomized open-world progression bypasses story guidance and is not designed as a first playthrough.
- Install CCLoader2, then Multiworld randomizer through its mod manager so dependencies are installed together. The reviewed 0.9.8 manifest requires open-world 0.5.8 or newer and ccmodmanager 1.2.1 or newer, alongside its listed UI dependencies.
- Start a new run, connect through the Archipelago console, then select New Game+ perks. Do not carry equipment or inventory over from another save.
- Enable DLC only if A New Home is installed; the Di'orbis goal requires it. Quest and per-slot shop options can substantially lengthen a run. Glitched logic is explicitly unsupported.
- The loader documents Windows, Linux and macOS installation, but this review does not certify every operating-system build. Use the platform-specific loader instructions.
- Release 0.9.8 relaxes the extra-key requirement at Trial of Persistence Lower Left and changes the World logic to precomputed callbacks. These source changes have not been independently verified in a complete playthrough.
- If the manager is stuck on 0.7.0, the FAQ directs users to reinstall CCLoader after a repository change. DeathLink is a local connection setting with selectable effects; it is not an option in the World YAML.
- The game save retains your room connection information, including its password. Treat exported saves as private and remove or change the room password before sharing them.
- Reconnect resends checks recorded in the save, but unsaved actions and a failed one-time victory notification are not guaranteed to be recovered. The reviewed data-package compatibility check also has a logic error; keep the mod, World and room versions aligned.
- The package cache uses ordinary local file operations without fully validating every received path component. Prefer rooms and servers you trust; this update does not establish a fix for that boundary.
- The package includes modified graphics and has an MIT declaration, but the reviewed materials do not document all redistribution permissions and required notices. This is a documentation limitation rather than a legal conclusion.
