How the game changes
- World pickups, selected drops and shops exchange items with other games. Keys and route unlocks determine which parts of Drangleic open next.
- The goal is defeating Nashandra. Giant's Kinship remains fixed at the Giant Lord, and the hotfix explicitly gates Nashandra and her drop behind the required progression.
- Shrine of Winter logic requires the four Great Soul boss defeats, not merely receiving their soul items or reaching a Soul Memory threshold.
- Combat Logic controls how early Estus Flask Shards and Sublime Bone Dust must become available. Easy supplies more healing before difficult routes; Disabled makes no healing guarantees.
- Starting equipment is randomized by default, with a weapon-usability requirement. Early Blacksmith defaults to a local early Lenigrast's Key; optional infinite Lifegems preserve a dependable consumable source.
- Separate options enable each Crown DLC. The inspected world contains DLC entrance keys, internal gates and healing requirements; New Game+ is a different, unfinished option.
- Optional DeathLink, automatic equipment changes, removed weapon or spell requirements and disabled equip load alter the experience without adding enemy randomization.
Before you start
- Choose the correct game edition in the YAML and the corresponding DLL: original Dark Souls II is x86; Scholar of the First Sin is x64. Rename the selected DLL to dinput8.dll and place it next to the game executable.
- The Steam link, artwork and popularity count here refer to Scholar of the First Sin. The original Steam edition is also documented by the maintainer and linked separately.
- The mod forces official Souls offline mode. Archipelago still needs network access from the game process; a blanket firewall block prevents remote AP connections. Do not use modified saves on official online services.
- Start a new save after connecting through the mod's console. Back up that save: a player reports that replacing a corrupted character did not restore already received items automatically.
- New Game+ is explicitly work in progress and not recommended. Keep it disabled. Dark Chasm of Old is excluded from progression by default; optional DLC requires the corresponding content.
- Pure bow or crossbow builds can struggle to obtain ammunition; a guaranteed merchant-ammo option is still requested. The pig-related pickaxe check is also reported as tedious, not necessarily broken.
- Linux/Proton has a documented dinput8 launch override, not a native Linux client or an independent Panludia runtime test. The APWorld archive lacks a manifest, so future Archipelago 0.7 compatibility is not established.
