Playing with others

Native co-op shares one YAML and one Archipelago slot: all players can send checks and receive unlocks. Guests do not need their own AP client. Separate worlds and later reconnection are documented, including simultaneous use of the same slot.

Known scope and limitations

• Install APWorld 1.3.3 with Archipelago 0.6.4 or later, plus the Workshop mod, currently labelled 1.3.3.1. These are separate version numbers. The host runs the DST client on the same machine as the game server.
• Generate locally with one YAML per DST server, regardless of how many people share it. The resulting ZIP can be hosted on the Archipelago website; other players joining the DST world do not need Archipelago installed themselves.
• Select Local Save and enable the server mod. Match world seasons, starting season and day phases to the YAML manually; the generator does not change those settings for you.
• Warly-exclusive cooking checks require Warly or another supported way to use his Portable Crock Pot from the start. Do not enable these checks without that capability.
• August Workshop feedback reports Nightmare Werepig's check triggering on one of its shadow creatures, and a multi-boss route requiring Scrappy Werepig unexpectedly. Avoid those boss configurations for a conservative first run; the reports are not independently reproduced here.
• Once first connected, offline progress can sync later. Reconnect before regenerating the world or unsent progress is lost. Regenerating or resetting a character also resets the survival timer.
• A world cannot switch to a different Archipelago slot or seed. One slot may be shared across multiple worlds, but multiple slots cannot share one DST world.
• The current setup documents Windows, macOS and native Linux save paths. On Steam Deck, use the Linux game build. Custom or beta-branch save folders need the documented host.yaml override.
• Gem Core and Don't Starve Alone are known incompatible mods. DeathLink can be punishing; Relaxed or Endless worlds and reduced death penalties are documented alternatives.
