How the game changes
- Checks: Selected weapon and inventory pickups, optional secret sectors, level exits and bosses. Location density and episode selection change the check pool.
- Items: Weapons, ammunition capacity, inventory equipment, temporary buffs and optional movement or interaction unlocks. Jumping, crouching, running, diving, doors and switches can become multiworld progression.
- Goals: Complete a configured share of bosses, levels, secrets or all three categories. Goal percentage ranges from 25 to 100.
- Options: Separate combat, resource and logic difficulty; optional glitches; location density, secrets, selected episodes and level count; randomized starting levels, maps, inventory fuel and mid-level saving.
Before you start
- Use the Windows x64 rednukemAP client with DUKE3DAP.grpinfo, DUKE3DAP.zip and the matching APWorld from release 0.0.8. Keep DUKE3DAP.zip zipped beside the executable. Supply duke3d.grp and DUKE.RTS from your own Atomic Edition 1.5 installation; the 20th Anniversary World Tour edition is not supported.
- The tagged README says Archipelago 0.4.4, while the v0.0.8 release note says compatibility with 0.6.0+. The published APWorld has no archipelago.json manifest to resolve that difference, and no install or runtime test was performed.
- The published APWorld asset differs from the source archive at tag 0.0.8 in three level-logic files. The inspected release package is documented directly in Mechanics; a reproducible source-to-package build has not been established. Saving preserves level progress but reloads player inventory as a fresh level entry. Multiplayer-only pickup options do not establish co-op support.
- Keep the client, game and APWorld versions paired; compatibility with other combinations is not established in the reviewed sources.
