How the game changes

  • Research AP science nodes and optionally complete crafting checks to send items. Received technologies unlock recipes for your factory.
  • Configure science tiers, technology costs and tree shapes, randomized recipes, free samples and optional progressive technology groups.
  • Choose a rocket-launch or satellite-launch objective. The World models the required production chain, and the game records the corresponding launch as victory.
  • EnergyLink bridges exchange electricity with compatible worlds. Optional DeathLink and individually configured traps add shared effects.
  • Version 0.6.8 gives the AP-managed Factorio server its own configuration and user-data directory, rather than creating the initial save in the working directory.
  • The update also corrects the saved-research catch-up branch and localizes more in-game item, sample and trap messages.

Before you start

  • Use the per-seed, per-slot Factorio mod generated by Archipelago 0.6.8, not a universal mod ZIP. Its metadata requires Factorio 2.0/base 2.0.28 or newer and explicitly excludes Space Age.
  • A dedicated Factorio server process is still required, even for solo play. The 0.6.8 code isolates its data/configuration so it can reuse an installation, but the shipped guide still instructs a separate standalone installation; follow that documented setup when starting.
  • Keep backups of the generated mod, configuration and factory save. Version 0.6.8 corrects a research catch-up comparison, but a failed RCON item batch does not have a fully transactional retry path.
  • Restart the bridge when changing factories, seeds or slots. Shared AP session state is reset on an identity change, but the Factorio-specific send cursor and timing of RCON catch-up are not fully covered by that reset.
  • The RCON password is passed in the local game process arguments. Keep diagnostics/process information private, avoid exposing the RCON interface, and use a protected AP connection when available.
  • Destructive trap options can damage or permanently alter a factory. Leave unwanted traps disabled when generating the seed; their presence is not a guarantee that all prior progress can be restored.
  • The actual Linux APWorld matches all nine Python source modules structurally and 22 bundled non-code files byte-for-byte. The Windows release archive was hash-verified, but its internal files could not be compared with the available reader. No game session was performed.
