How the game changes
- Checks: 229 unique addresses span Normal, Hard and Annihilation. With default options, Normal has 40 active checks: nine boss power-ups, ten level-ups, ten generators, ten computers and one victory event. Hard has 40 and Annihilation 14 under the same optional settings.
- Items: Blade, Suit, Blaster and Pattern Scanner upgrades; level-ups; computers; generator barriers; door unlocks; optional save-point warps and filler. In default Normal, 29 items are shuffled while ten Level Ups and Victory remain locked to their locations.
- Goals: Defeat the final boss for the chosen difficulty, optionally requiring up to ten Computers for access. The APWorld places Victory at Cruiser Tetron in Normal/Hard and the Living Warmachine in Annihilation.
- Options: Difficulty, computer requirement, power-up and level-up shuffle, generators, computers, doors, save-point shuffle with optional scanner removal, miscellaneous checks, Expel skips and DeathLink. Power-up, level-up and Expel options do not affect Annihilation.
Before you start
- Setup uses a separate APWorld and Windows randomizer package. In the v1.0.4 release, the GameMaker source and standalone game package are named v1.0.2, while the APWorld slot data reports ModSemantic 1.0.0 prerelease. Their cross-version compatibility was not independently tested. Configure ConnectionInfo.ini, launch the randomizer and connect. Music is not bundled; the maintainer points players to the original Hero Core download. A Text Client or Universal Tracker is recommended for fuller multiworld feedback.
- The in-game message display is limited. Reached save points remain warpable without their randomized warp item. The released game package includes preexisting saves; do not use them as a starting state. The APWorld files match the v1.0.4 tagged source after line-ending normalization, but the Windows client and World were not run together and no complete campaign was tested.
- Keep the client, game and APWorld versions paired; compatibility with other combinations is not established in the reviewed sources.
