Keys of the CaysArchipelago randomizer mod
Search bee-filled islands for a pirate's treasure in a turn-based puzzle game built for Archipelago. Your discoveries send upgrades across the multiworld; incoming health, detector and ally improvements make harder islands more manageable.

How the game changes
- The 5-by-5 world has 25 island-clear reward checks. Five additional key locations hold fixed local Key items: those victory keys never enter another player's world. Finding all five is the completion condition.
- The shuffled pool contains seven Radio Towers and six copies each of Longer Ally Lifespan, More Starting Health and More Detectors Per Pack. Each received upgrade improves your tools rather than opening a rigid sequence of islands.
- Generation counts three, six or nine combined health, ally-lifespan and detector upgrades before considering increasingly difficult islands reachable. Radio Towers do not count toward those thresholds, but key-location logic separately requires towers according to the island's difficulty.
- These are generator logic assumptions, not a claim that the game physically blocks every harder island. Skilled players may attempt harder puzzles early. The five keys stay local so the intended challenge is becoming strong enough to find them, not waiting for another world to send a key.
- Lure bees onto flowers to recruit temporary allies and earn honey. Spend honey on detectors to deduce buried treasure positions. Clearing an island requires finding its treasure; a failed dig breaks the shovel until repaired.
- There are no game-specific YAML settings in this release. Hammer, Hard Mode and other examples left in commented template code are not supported options. DeathLink is not exposed by this APWorld.
Before you start
- This is a browser game designed for Archipelago, not a mod for another commercial title. The public APWorld is 0.0.1, with Archipelago 0.6.7 as its declared minimum. The browser game is hosted separately and does not have a matching downloadable version tag in the reviewed repository.
- The generator installs keysofthecays.apworld, creates a player YAML and generates the room. Players open the author's itch.io game, select Connect to Archipelago and enter the host, port and exact slot. The author documents archipelago.gg hosting; solo play still needs an Archipelago room.
- No offline standalone mode is advertised yet. Asynchronous means returning to a hosted room at different times, not a guarantee of disconnected check delivery. Browser save durability, cross-device recovery and all browser/server combinations have not been independently established here.
- Restarting an island changes its buried treasure layout. The author reports fixes for temporary disconnects, keys after server-collected checks and goal reporting in the July browser updates. Those are maintainer reports, not Panludia runtime test results.
- Use the itch.io instructions rather than the APWorld's placeholder documentation. This first public world retains unused tutorial code and tests; their presence is not evidence that the listed game features were tested or that extra mechanics work.
- Panludia verified the published APWorld's bytes, manifest, item pool, regions and rules, and reviewed the author's public game description and setup. The separately hosted game code and a complete connected playthrough were not inspected or executed. This is a documented listing, not a security certification.
