Setup & releases

Choose the documented game and integration versions and follow the original installation instructions.

Compatibility notes

  • Beta-3 contains APWorld 0.8.0 and requires Archipelago 0.6.7 or newer. The maintainer presents it as a beta build despite GitHub’s non-prerelease flag. Steam with English in-game text is the documented target; Windows uses the bundled x64 native hook. Linux/Steam Deck workarounds are community reports, not a verified compatibility matrix.
  • Install yakuza_gaiden.apworld and Shin Ryu Mod Manager. Open the Yakuza Gaiden client’s Randomizer tab, select a dedicated working folder, and create its resource folders. Generate a fresh room, download your slot’s patch ZIP into AP_PATCH, then run the randomizer and import Gaiden_Rando.zip in the mod manager. Keep only the intended patch ZIP: the pipeline selects the newest file. Remove old seed mods before changing runs.
  • Launch the game through Shin Ryu Mod Manager with the matching text client connected. Interact with an inventory item to initialise the game hook; the console also offers a manual connection path. Optional Universal Tracker provides maps and uses slot data without the original YAML. Use the pinned maintainer README: the APWorld’s included tutorial pages still describe APQuest.
  • The default model has 641 checks across shops, wire pickups, lockers, Pocket Circuit and Akame activities. Skills, access keys and circuit parts form part of the item pool; missable junk pickups receive filler. Substories and consumable shops are off by default. The default goal is seven Golden Balls from a pool of ten. Shishido and the Pocket Circuit owner can be selected; multiple effective goals must all be completed, and the World falls back to Shishido when none remain.
  • Use the recommended defaults first and keep a separate backup of saves and the working folder. Very narrow money/point ranges and nonnumeric custom seed names are not handled by parts of the output pipeline. Folder updates replace resource directories. Other mods are not guaranteed compatible. The maintainer describes save/server resync, but native reconnect, offline checks, duplicate delivery and save isolation could not be established from the available sources.
  • The packaged Python can be reviewed directly; the linked Archipelago branch is an older 0.6.0 World and does not fully match 0.8.0. Matching native-hook sources were not located. The package also supplies full game-data tables and OpenSSL DLLs without a complete documented redistribution basis and notices. This identifies an evidence gap, rather than a legal conclusion or a finding about every bundled image.
  • Automatic connection uses a local bridge that shares the room credentials with local processes. Avoid reusing a sensitive password or exposing connection details in screenshots. Encryption and validation on the native connection could not be established from the available implementation.
