How the game changes
- The reviewed APWorld defines 479 unique possible checks across story and optional quests, arena, event, special and grindy quests, endemic life, and specialized-tool objectives. Its default High Rank setup activates 124: 110 quest checks and 14 tool checks.
- Progressive Weapon and Progressive Armor items gate deeper rank regions. Specialized tools and weighted filler rewards join the item pool; default High Rank settings add 13 copies of each progressive gear item and two copies of each of 19 tool items.
- Choose a Low Rank, High Rank or Master Rank goal. The APWorld code and options template name A Colossal Task for Low Rank, while the tagged README lists Invader in the Waste; High Rank is Land of Convergence and Master Rank is Paean of Guidance.
- Generation options add arena, event, special and grind-heavy quests; basic, rare and legendary endemic-life checks; and equipment/tool settings. The shipped YAML template selects High Rank and leaves the additional quest and endemic-life groups off.
Before you start
- Use the matching mhw.apworld, Monster.Hunter.World.yaml and MHWGenerator-v0.1.3.zip. The maintainer documents Windows and game version 15.23.00, with Iceborne strongly recommended, Stracker's Loader and Performance Booster and Plugin Extender required. The YAML asks for Archipelago 0.6.7 while the APWorld manifest declares 0.6.3 as its minimum. Back up SAVEDATA before use.
- This remains an alpha. The v0.1.3 release notes acknowledge a narrow fresh-save item-delivery issue. The APWorld's Low Rank goal differs from the tagged README. Its completion condition checks reachability of the named goal location; Panludia did not test whether that aligns with the in-game quest-clear event.
- The maintainer says multiplayer works but warns that the mod has no lobby filtering; use it only with consenting Archipelago participants. Panludia has not verified multiplayer or end-to-end behavior. Linux support is not documented.
- The tag archive contains the README but not the Python modules included in mhw.apworld, so source-to-package equivalence could not be established. The Windows generator archive also includes a 2,843-member 'Unrandomized Files (Don't Delete)' tree of game-format files; their origin and redistribution basis were not established in this review.
