How the game changes
- Both characters and both first/second scenarios are supported, with Assisted, Standard and Hardcore difficulty choices. Start the exact character, scenario and difficulty shown by the connected mod.
- Item pickups send randomized checks; received key items, weapons, upgrades, hip pouches, ammunition and healing supplies change how you route through areas already reached in the story.
- This is not an open-world conversion. Story triggers still matter: the Clock Tower, roof ladder and Mr. X sequence do not become available on the first RPD visit just because you have an associated item.
- Starting hip pouches and Hardcore ink ribbons can be taken from the pool. Bonus Start supplies extra healing and ammunition but is off in the raw default YAML; the visual setup recommends helpful options for group play.
- Extra Clock Tower items, extra medallions and early medallions are enabled by default to reduce waiting for key progression. Allow Progression in Labs is off by default to avoid placing randomized progression late in this particular world.
- Cross-scenario weapon randomization can replace only the starting weapon, match weapon categories, fully shuffle them or add a broader weapon set. Local Weapons keeps your weapons in your own world; Double Weapons adds eligible duplicate copies.
- Ammo quantities can stay vanilla, increase or decrease. Separate challenge settings replace weapons or remove selected healing and crafting supplies. These choices directly affect survival, not just the size of the check list.
- Optional Killsanity adds enemy-defeat locations and lets you choose which supplies those new locations contribute to the item pool. It is off by default and currently has a reported progression blocker; leave it disabled for the recommended route.
- DeathLink is available. Damage and poison traps are separate options, off by default. Damage traps are nonlethal unless explicitly made lethal; poison can exhaust the game's limited cure supply.
- The client integrates its connection and status panels into REFramework. Save/load reconciliation and a received-item resend dropdown help recover deliveries, while the goal follows completion of the chosen campaign.
Before you start
- Use the Steam non-RTX branch, not the ray-tracing build. Follow the visual guide to select it, then install the RE2_TDB66 build of REFramework. Compatibility with other REFramework/game combinations is not established here.
- Install the APWorld in Archipelago for generation. Separately extract the tagged RE2R_AP_Client source ZIP, then move the contents of its enclosing version folder into the game directory so reframework is at the correct level.
- Connect the in-game Archipelago Client for REFramework before beginning the matching scenario. The game mod displays the required character, scenario and difficulty; launching a different one is not an equivalent room setup.
- Keep Killsanity disabled for now. An open September 8, 2026 report describes a Claire B medallion placed on a Press Room enemy that only becomes killable after G1, creating a progression cycle. The September 3 release predates that report.
- The Killsanity option description still names an older, narrower supported scenario, while release notes and bundled data cover additional scenarios. Do not interpret that expanded data as proof that every enemy placement is safe.
- Use typewriter teleports only to revisit areas already reached normally. The maintainer warns that skipping story triggers, leaving boss fights or bypassing cutscenes can hardlock the game. The new G3 teleport restriction does not remove every misuse risk.
- Do not switch save files within the same seed. Save often, especially after boss fights, and keep backups before changing mods or campaigns. Item reconciliation is not permission to mix unrelated saves and slots.
- The latest medallion disappearance correction is described by its author as a likely fix, not confirmed universally. The new resend dropdown is a recovery tool; investigate lost items before continuing an important campaign.
- Troll weapon modes and extreme or randomized ammo quantities are explicitly not guaranteed to be reasonably beatable. Use the visual guide's safer settings for a first multiworld and do not enable every challenge option at once.
- This Windows listing does not certify Linux, Proton or unrelated mod combinations. Panludia has inspected public releases, setup, options, feedback and save handling, not independently completed the current campaign.
