RollerCoaster Tycoon 2Archipelago randomizer mod
Build an amusement park while other worlds supply rides, scenery and permission to change its rules. The integration runs through OpenRCT2 using your purchased game assets, with park-management challenges sending checks back to the multiworld.

How the game changes
- The unlock shop turns park achievements and purchases into checks. Requirements can involve park statistics, particular rides and resources rather than simply waiting for vanilla research.
- Received items unlock rides, scenery and park-rule restrictions. Progressive game-speed items can also control access to faster simulation speeds.
- Configurable objectives combine guest count, park rating, park value, coaster requirements, unique rides and repaying the loan. These form a park-management goal rather than a conventional final boss.
- Optional Monopoly requires buying the available land. Land and construction-right discounts can soften that objective, while coaster excitement, intensity and nausea thresholds change its building challenges.
- Award checks can include all awards, positive awards only, or none. Negative awards deliberately carry traps when included; disabling other trap options does not remove that consequence.
- Scenario selection includes the supplied Archipelago Madness parks and supported original scenarios. Vanilla and expansion variants, plus synchronous and asynchronous layouts, are distributed with the release.
- Difficulty, ride-stat randomization and reroll frequency can reshape familiar ride designs. Guest intensity preferences, starting skips and additional trap counts are separately configurable.
- DeathLink and several themed traps are available. Skips can bypass difficult shop requirements; the default package grants a starting skip plus the configured additional allowance.
Before you start
- This is an OpenRCT2 plugin, not a patch for the unmodified Steam executable. Install OpenRCT2 and provide legitimately owned RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 assets; RollerCoaster Tycoon Classic is another documented asset source.
- The setup explicitly supports Windows, Linux and macOS where OpenRCT2 and Archipelago run. That is maintainer-documented support, not an independent Panludia runtime test on all three systems.
- Use the plugin, APWorld and appropriate scenario from v0.1.22.1-beta. Its world manifest intentionally reports numeric version 0.1.22; the plugin's patch suffix is not a separate world requirement.
- The latest release breaks old saves. Start a new Archipelago generation and new park; do not update an ongoing multiworld expecting save compatibility.
- Install rctrando.js in OpenRCT2's plugin folder and the APWorld in Archipelago. Launch the OpenRCT2 client, select the scenario required by the generated options and connect through the in-game Archipelago setup before starting.
- The separate Archipelago client remains necessary. The latest release confirms that the plugin cannot connect directly to secure Archipelago servers; launching only the game is not the complete connection path.
- One shared park with multiple native multiplayer players is not currently supported. Synchronous and asynchronous describe the multiworld schedule, not cooperative editing of one park.
- Use the default Archipelago Madness Vanilla scenario and normal guest-intensity preferences for an initial run. An arbitrary custom park is not automatically supported, and required expansion assets must actually be installed.
- Fireworks are enabled by default but the author recommends disabling them for very large parks or extended play after completing the goal. More traps can also increase the generated pool and extend a session.
- The latest patch fixes missing unique-ride objectives, oversized-shop JSON errors and failures with too few skips. It remains a beta; older setup references to earlier Archipelago versions are not proof of current compatibility with every release.
