How the game changes
- Abilities, weapons, Titania pieces, HP/MP/TP upgrades, Fae Silver, flags and trinkets enter the multiworld pool. Grappling Hook upgrades are progressive: basic, upgraded pull and infinite use.
- Most randomized pickups display an Archipelago icon; some checks are sent automatically from game state. Incoming item notifications identify the reward and sending player.
- Teleporting is available from the start. While paused, F5 returns you toward the first teleporter; selected boss and passage changes preserve repeat access to routes.
- Choose a starting weapon, required ending and shop discount. Traversal settings cover damage boosts, grenade boosts, precise movement/grappling, bunny hopping and hard combat.
- Fern and the separately installed Gimmick mod have different logic tables. Maya and Ameli are explicitly rejected by the World. DeathLink is optional.
Before you start
- Use APWorld v0.1.7-alpha with client mod v1.2.0. Install Rusted Moss Mod Manager first; its 1.4c package was inspected for this review. The integration guide reports Steam game 3.98 and Archipelago 0.6.4; newer combinations and the itch.io edition have not been independently verified.
- Install the APWorld in custom_worlds, edit the supplied YAML and generate/host the room. Enable the client through the mod manager, or use the guide’s manual ZIP installation route. Start a dedicated new save and enter the exact room address, slot and password. The maintainer primarily tested Speedrun mode.
- The maintainer documents incomplete cumulative-health, trinket-capacity and combat logic. Some routes assume rapid weapon switching. Major Content Update and Winter Update additions are not fully supported; optional Gimmick must be installed and selected manually.
- The client accepts broader ending sets than the required-ending setting suggests: goal A accepts A through D, goal B accepts B or C, and goal E accepts any ending. Goals C and D accept their respective ending. This differs from the World’s selected-event completion model.
- Keep backups and a separate save for each room. Checked locations are saved and resent on connection, but the sidecar save is keyed by file number without verified room identity or atomic coordination with the game save. Item replay also contains a weapon-reset inconsistency.
- Rail is used in access rules despite being classified useful, and alternate starting weapons are available. The hard-Maya option uses inconsistent field names between client paths. These static findings limit confidence in all option combinations.
- The password is stored in local JSON settings. Native TLS hostname verification was not established in this review. The optional mod manager downloads and replaces mods without comparing a trusted content hash or signature; manually installing the identified archive avoids that downloader path but does not resolve the remaining client limitations.
- World and client text files match identified source revisions after newline normalization, and the native DLL matches an official gm-apclientpp release. Client/loader license-notice coverage and a full native rebuild remain unverified. No proprietary game-asset bundle or game executable was identified in the inspected client and loader archives.
