How the game changes

  • Build a multiworld campaign around Ironclad, Silent, Defect, Regent, Necrobinder or configured custom characters. The default uses Ironclad; a target of zero means winning with every configured character.
  • Floors, card and relic rewards can become checks. Optional Goldsanity, Potionsanity, Campfiresanity and Shopsanity add further rewards and interactions to the campaign.
  • Received items unlock characters, grant card and relic rewards, improve progressive starter equipment and open later campfire or Ancient opportunities. Reward modes can offer Ancient relics at act starts or through the AP menu.
  • Character and goal trackers show campaign progress. Extra characters add separate single-player runs to complete, rather than native co-op partners in one run.
  • Version 1.1.2 adds clearer APWorld compatibility warnings and checks the authenticated room and slot on manual as well as automatic reconnects. Its paired APWorld is version 1.1.1.
  • The client retains successfully recorded checks in a room-and-slot-bound local journal, resends missing checks after login and ignores legacy journals whose owner cannot be proven.
  • DeathLink is optional, with configurable damage and curse effects plus an in-game override. Traps and native multiplayer remain outside the implemented feature set.
Explore game mechanics

Before you start

  • Use client 1.1.2 with the spire2.apworld supplied in the same release, whose manifest is 1.1.1. The host needs Archipelago 0.6.7 or later. The reviewed client targets public game 0.107.1 and includes beta 0.111.0 compatibility code; later game updates require a fresh compatibility check.
  • Install RitsuLib first. For a manual setup, extract Archipelago.zip into the game mods folder with its DLL, PCK and included APWorld together under mods/Archipelago. Workshop installation is also offered; its files can change independently of this archived release.
  • The release template still describes Windows as required, while a project collaborator reports Linux working after the move to RitsuLib. The client is managed code. Neither this review nor that report establishes every Linux, Proton or later game-version combination. Use the Archipelago launcher to install the APWorld if the in-game shortcut has no file association.
  • Major/minor World differences and missing or different compatibility flags produce a confirmation warning; accepting it does not verify compatibility. Patch-only differences connect silently. Leave the current slot before moving an active run to another room or slot.
  • The source includes a campfire fallback when no native action is usable, including a deck with no upgradeable cards. With Shopsanity and Goldsanity together, however, the World assigns the last shop gold threshold to the Act 2 shop and leaves Act 3 without its intended explicit gold gate.
  • Back up local mod data and the room before changing versions. Normal checkpoints are stored on the AP server at selected points. Local recovery files do not validate the complete room-and-slot identity, and recovery and pending-check writes are not transactional.
  • Stay connected for the final victory. The current victory handler returns while offline and does not retain that victory for automatic resubmission. Successfully journaled location checks have a separate reconnect/replay path.
  • Very early checks can be missed before location scouting finishes. Interrupted or failed reward application is also not atomic with its delivery counters; a successful login is not a guarantee that every reward or check has been applied.
  • Room passwords are saved as plaintext in local connection settings. An explicit wss:// address requires encrypted transport; a bare hostname can fall back to plaintext. Keep the connection file private.
  • The source carries a BSD-3 license, but full notices are absent from the downloaded client and World packages. This review inspected source, managed assemblies and UI resources without running the game or independently rebuilding the whole release.
