How the game changes
- 173 journal checks by default; 210 possible entries across goals and starting-character choices cover places, people, bestiary, items and traps.
- Progressive world access opens branching areas together; individual world unlocks are also available. Locked exits return a run to its starting area.
- Characters, item availability, persistent starting equipment and Waddler storage have separate roles. Journal Entry Required normally delays equipment benefits until local discovery.
- Health, bombs, ropes, world access, shortcuts, Cosmic Ocean checkpoints and Compass upgrades form seven progressive families.
- Choose the normal Tiamat ending, hard Hundun ending or configured Cosmic Ocean route. Skip assumptions and optional weighted traps customize the challenge.
Before you start
- Install the 0.4.0 APWorld in Archipelago 0.6.6 or newer and import its matching mod ZIP into Modlunky 2. Launch through Playlunky with the unsafe library mode required by the maintainer.
- Use a separate Playlunky save and keep backups: the maintainer warns of frequent save overwrites and possible loss. A connection HTTP-status error has a documented restart workaround.
- Ironman Goal mode is declared, but the World sends ironman_mode while the delivered client reads goal_ironman. Do not rely on the intended shortcut restriction for this paired release.
- Progressive shortcuts generate 4/9/15 copies by goal, while the client counter caps at six. Copies beyond six add no tier; camp starts are not modeled as separate access paths in World logic.
- Waddler’s Compass upgrade is stored as a number but its refill loop accepts only true, skipping that route in the reviewed client. The ordinary starting Compass has a separate two-copy progression.
- Cosmic Ocean’s ending interception compares the depth with Goal Level minus one. Its exact cleared-depth behavior and a full native playthrough have not been independently verified.
