How the game changes
- Checks: Wave and mission clears, tank and giant objectives, with optional kill checks, victory caches and campaign milestones.
- Items: Mission tickets, classes, global or per-class slots, weapon buffs, optional cash, bot cards and bounded traps.
- Goals: Clear the hardest drawn mission or a chosen share of missions with Missionsanity.
- Hosting: Native Windows/Linux launchers or Docker; ordinary TF2 clients share one team slot, with optional RED defender bots.
- Options: Mission pools and exclusions, community assets, Windows/Linux SigMod, DeathLink, mission modifiers and unlock importance.
Before you start
- Use release 1.18.1 with Archipelago 0.6.7. The host runs tf2ap.exe on Windows, tf2ap-linux-amd64 on Linux, or the supplied Docker stack; teammates join with ordinary TF2 clients and share one Archipelago slot. The first dedicated-server download is about 14 GB, with additional disk space for installation.
- The default run draws eight missions and starts at Intermediate difficulty. The data catalog includes 29 official missions with 181 waves and 201 community entries; the available pool depends on installed assets and required server mods. Optional victory caches, kill checks and milestones change the number of checks, so there is no single fixed total.
- Community packs are separate downloads. Select and install the necessary assets before generating or joining a community campaign, or disable Community Missions for an official-only pool. The reviewed release supplies SigMod packages for Windows and Linux; older Windows-only exclusions no longer describe this version.
- Use the default global weapon-slot mode, or keep class and weapon-slot importance as Progression when enabling per-class slots. Mixed Useful/Progression settings can leave later missions inaccessible to the generation logic. Final Boss and Missionsanity are supported; Jarate traps and DeathLink are optional.
- Keep the bridge-state directory backed up and use a separate installation/state directory for each slot. The bridge persists checks before acknowledging them and reconnects to Archipelago, but checks still queued only in the plugin can be lost on shutdown. Cash/trap acknowledgements and the final victory status also have interruption limits; consult sm_ap_status and the maintainer’s recovery guide.
- The Windows executable is unsigned. Release hashes match the reviewed downloads, but that is not an independent safety certification. Enable AP TLS for remote secure rooms, keep credentials and server configuration private, and inspect diagnostic bundles before sharing: text redaction does not sanitize raw crash dumps.
- Release 1.18.1 updates gamedata and SigMod for TF2 server build 11087207, limits Bot Surge near the entity limit and binds saved runs only after slot acceptance. The maintainer also reports a remaining Linux wave stall. Native game compatibility and complete multiworld stability have not been independently playtested by Panludia; complete packaged third-party notices and immutable native build provenance remain unverified.
