TimeSplitters 2Archipelago randomizer mod
Reconnect TimeSplitters 2 to a multiworld through the PC port hidden inside Homefront: The Revolution. Other worlds unlock missions, arcade events and challenges; your objectives, story clears and trophy tiers send items back.

How the game changes
- Keep any combination of Story, Arcade and Challenge. The selected modes determine the checks and event-unlock items; all three are included by default.
- Ten story missions, 45 Arcade matches and 21 Challenges supply up to 362 locations: 264 trophy tiers, 30 difficulty clears and 68 objectives. The default stops at Normal story difficulty and Gold trophies.
- With Story included, complete Space Station on the selected maximum difficulty after receiving its unlock and enough Time Crystals. The default requests eight crystals plus four extras, with counts adjusted when the active check pool has less room.
- Without Story, complete the configured share of the selected Arcade or Challenge trophy checks, defaulting to 90 percent. Story-only weapon options and Time Crystals are removed from that route.
- One random unlock per active category is provided at the start, configurable from one to three. Space Station is excluded from story starters. Weapon gating additionally supplies the starting missions with a usable weapon.
- Weapon Gating requires received weapon unlocks. Weapon Shuffle can change loadouts, pickups and enemy weapons globally, within classes or within a level. Both are off by default and affect Story only. Some tools keep their original identity under shuffling while still needing an unlock when gating is enabled.
- Health, Armor and Ammo packs refill resources; timed cheat traps run sequentially during connected Story play. Remaining reward slots become Banana filler. DeathLink is optional, with a separate outgoing-death threshold for Arcade and Challenge.
- Version 1.1.0 registers the World and client as TimeSplitters 2 Redux and changes the APWorld filename to ts2redux.apworld. The underlying progression and native-hook code are otherwise substantially unchanged from 1.0.2.
Before you start
- Use the Steam PC edition of Homefront: The Revolution, which contains the required port, and install TS2 Redux v0.2.7 with its default selections. Confirm Redux works before adding the randomizer.
- Install both 1.1.0 downloads together: Scotch.dll goes in Bin64/TS2Redux, AP_client.cfg in the game root, and ts2redux.apworld in Archipelago/custom_worlds. The World requires Archipelago 0.6.4 or later.
- For a new 1.1.0 room, set both the game value and game-specific YAML section to TimeSplitters 2 Redux. Remove the old PC integration file timesplitters2.apworld from custom_worlds to avoid keeping two conflicting registrations.
- Keep the paired 1.0.2 client and World if you need to finish a seed generated before 1.1.0. Changing the displayed name or installing the new client does not migrate that older room.
- Back up the ordinary profile and ap_saves folder before updating or changing seeds. Profile and one-time-grant files are written separately. Avoid seed or slot names that differ only in punctuation or long suffixes, since filenames are sanitized and shortened.
- Stay connected while playing. Check detection, saving and timed-effect cleanup pause when the connection drops. Profile-based checks can be revisited after reconnecting, but unique optional objectives and interrupted effects do not have complete durable recovery.
- Several queued refill packs of one resource can be consumed by a single refill. Traps are serialized to avoid conflicting cheats, but their intended duration is not guaranteed through a disconnection.
- Use the documented Windows setup and default Redux components. Native hooks depend on fixed game offsets; the reviewed source does not establish a complete executable-version rejection guard. Schema mismatches produce a warning rather than a safe migration.
- The config stores the room password as plain text. Keep it private. A plain host can fall back to unencrypted transport; an explicit wss:// address pins encrypted transport when supported by the room.
- The source includes license and dependency documentation, but the downloaded client and APWorld archives omit the full notice files. Complete native-binary reconstruction and runtime compatibility were not verified in this review.
