COMMUNITY INTEGRATION

TOEM: A Photo AdventureArchipelago randomizer mod

Turn a photographic road trip into a multiworld adventure. Quests and compendium pictures send checks, while received stamps open the next bus journey and shuffled equipment changes which problems you can solve.

How the game changes

  • Quest stamps and compendium photos are always randomized. Inventory and clothing locations are included by default; cassettes and in-game achievements are optional extra checks. Achievement checks add photo filler rather than matching achievement items.
  • The camera, backpack, cassette player and community card remain available normally. Equipment randomization does not remove the basic tools needed to begin the adventure.
  • Progressive Stamps are enabled by default. Each received stamp helps the earliest region still short of its bus requirement. Turning this off gives each region its own stamp items instead.
  • Bus stamp requirements are configurable per region. The default requirements are one for Homelanda, seven for Oaklaville, eight for Stanhamn, nine for Logcity and six for Kiiruberg. Lower requirements can shorten waits between regions.
  • The opening region's required stamps are placed among early local rewards. Optional Honk Attachment Early places the horn in someone's first reachable rewards, not necessarily your own world or starting inventory.
  • The default goal is experiencing TOEM and completing the base adventure. Including the free Basto content changes the goal to its bonfire event and adds that island's checks and items; its stamp requirement defaults to ten.
  • Entrance randomization is optional and off by default. It shuffles transitions within each region, not across the entire world. Version 2.1.0 also includes raft and ski-lift transitions in that shuffle.
  • Universal Tracker can reconstruct slot options and discovered entrances. The 2.1.0 Rule Builder update adds explanations of logical paths and an optional tracker view for harder, out-of-normal-logic photos.

Before you start

  • Use the matching 2.1.x client and APWorld. Version 2.1.0 requires Archipelago 0.6.7 for generation; the client rejects a world from a different major/minor version even if its patch number differs.
  • The documented mod installation targets Windows x64 with BepInEx 6 IL2CPP, specifically tested against bleeding-edge build 738. BepInEx 5 or a Mono build is not a substitute. The base game's native Linux/macOS availability does not establish mod compatibility there.
  • Install BepInEx beside TOEM.exe and launch once to initialize it, then place the mod's plugins payload under BepInEx/plugins. Install toem.apworld in Archipelago separately before generating a room.
  • Connect through the title-screen panel before starting. For a new slot, follow the New Adventure prompt and reset in-game achievements if their checks are enabled. Back up your ordinary save first; the documented process replaces the existing adventure.
  • Keep the game connected while playing and resume the same campaign. The client has check synchronization, but the reviewed code does not establish a library of isolated per-slot saves or guaranteed offline campaign support. Do not switch a running adventure to another slot.
  • Connection details, including a supplied room password, are remembered in the local BepInEx configuration. Treat that file as private and remove credentials before sharing diagnostics or backups.
  • The old cassette option description still mentions a disabled entrance-randomizer beta. The current world includes cassette locations and the 2.0 release notes explicitly restore them; use current packages rather than those obsolete instructions.
  • Earlier releases fixed impossible Basto entrance layouts, deferred transitions, stamp requirements shared between slots and connection failures. Default unshuffled entrances are the simpler first-run choice. No DeathLink or native co-op is provided by the reviewed options, and Panludia has not independently completed a campaign.
