COMMUNITY INTEGRATION

West of LoathingArchipelago randomizer mod

Take a stick-figure western into your multiworld. Unique pickups and purchases send checks, while tools, skill books and quest items arrive from other worlds. This is an incomplete alpha with known missing-check reports.

How the game changes

  • Most unique items and pickup locations are randomized. Most non-unique loot, combat drops, unlimited shop stock and Foragin' plants remain outside the randomization.
  • Skill books from all classes become available, and class-specific persuasion skills are combined into Persuadin'. Several quest and encounter rules change to make alternate routes possible.
  • The Boring Springs tutorial is skipped. The default opening supplies equipment, meat and experience; custom starting inventory can instead remove selected items from the randomized pool.
  • Optional Reckonin' at Gun Manor checks and items are enabled by default and require DLC ownership. Its access coach can itself be randomized. Disable DLC generation if you do not own it.
  • Goblintongue is randomized by default. Unbreakable Tools can prevent selected tools from being consumed; otherwise replacements become purchasable after the corresponding item has arrived.
  • An in-game title-screen connection panel accepts the server, port, slot and password. The campaign follows the route to Frisco, with completion reported when the end credits are reached.

Before you start

  • This is an early alpha, not a validated full campaign. Current maintainer reports describe missing checks and purchases becoming unavailable, including a honeybean interaction. Some missed rewards do not reliably return through Dirtwater Mercantile; host assistance may be needed.
  • Use the matching WOLAP_Mod.zip and westofloathing.apworld from v0.2.4-alpha. Windows installation is documented through Thunderstore, r2modman or manual BepInEx setup. The current dependency-patcher route is explicitly untested on Linux and macOS.
  • For manual installation, prefer the documented BepInEx patchers option over replacing the game's Newtonsoft.Json.dll. These are alternative methods, not cumulative steps. Follow the matching uninstall instructions and preserve dependencies used by other mods.
  • Back up your saves and start a dedicated modded save for each room. A modded-save marker exists, but the inspected code does not establish a seed-and-slot binding guard. Do not reuse a campaign across seeds or assume uninstalling restores changed saves.
  • Stay connected while making progress. Offline outgoing checks are queued in memory, not durably saved, and connecting clears that queue. Do not rely on offline progress being recovered after a disconnect or restart.
  • Connection details are retained in game data. Keep saves and diagnostic files private, and remove credentials before sharing them. Received items are applied during gameplay or inventory interaction rather than combat.
  • Gary as a companion and hard mode are unsupported. Gun Manor uses a fixed difficulty of five. These gameplay changes are part of the integration, not optional equivalents of every vanilla setting.
  • DeathLink and native shared-save co-op are not established by this build. Panludia's source and distribution review is not an independent playthrough, a security certification or proof that every generated campaign can finish without intervention.
