How the game changes
- Checks: 90 default locations — 40 main rounds, 10 branch rounds, 39 bingo completions and one fixed goal.
- Items: Round Access, Knowledge Fragments, Branch Keys, progressive navigation/bingo tools, optional lenses and three page traps.
- Goal: Reach the answer article after receiving seven required Knowledge Fragments; leftover rounds follow the room Release setting.
- Options: Nine Wikipedia languages, topic filters, round/branch lengths, bingo size, navigation locks, deaths, DeathLink and TrapLink.
- Release: World 1.0.3 targets Archipelago 0.6.7; hosted client includes a post-tag navigation correction.
Before you start
- Use World 1.0.3 and the release YAML with Archipelago 0.6.7. The organizer installs the APWorld, generates and hosts the seed; players only need a modern browser for the hosted client. This is a free browser game, with no commercial game, ROM or paid DLC installation.
- The hosted client at wikipelago.dreskn.fr identifies itself as 1.0.3 on commit 95c70f4. Its browser code fixes a const-to-let navigation error present in the release source ZIP and updates shell-cache keys. The hosted bridge source matches the tagged bridge. Prefer the hosted route for public rooms; the untouched tagged local client retains that navigation defect.
- Defaults create 90 locations: 40 main rounds, 10 branch rounds, 39 bingo completions across three 5×5 cards and one fixed Grand Goal. Seven Knowledge Fragments reveal the goal question; nine are in the default pool. Reach its answer article to finish. Remaining checks follow the room Release setting rather than being silently sent on victory.
- The seed selects one of nine Wikipedia languages; changing menu language does not change it. Optional categories, branches, bingo, back/reroll tools, lenses, search letters, deaths and page traps alter navigation. Wikipedia availability, redirects and changing links remain external dependencies; source review cannot guarantee every article path.
- For private or VPN rooms, the maintainer documents a local Python bridge. The starter listens on all interfaces over HTTP by default; bind it to loopback for use on one computer and avoid exposing it publicly. Shared-LAN connections carry sensitive connection data without an application-provided TLS layer. The browser does not save the room password.
- Reconnect restores confirmed checks and server-held bingo/journey state, with merge guards. Offline scoring is refused; uncertain sends have no general durable retry queue. A completed goal check can suppress retry of a missing final victory status. Keep connected and verify completion in the Archipelago room.
- Saved page/click identity uses server, slot and language without seed identity. Use fresh local client/session data when replacing a seed at the same address and slot. Trap delivery also has limits: full inventory sync suppresses trap replay and transient events are not durably acknowledged by the browser.
- Source contains MIT and icon notices, but the APWorld does not carry the complete notice set. Python dependencies use minimum-version constraints rather than hash locks, and article display relies on upstream Wikipedia content filtering with limited additional sanitization. Panludia links to maintainer downloads and has not run the client, tests or a seed.
