How the game changes
- Pagies, Trowzer ability purchases, Mollycools, Play Coins and health or energy boosters become checks. Pickups keep their ordinary appearance; incoming items are announced by the client.
- The pool includes 145 Pagies, 15 abilities, five Mollycools, five Play Coins and six of each booster. Quills remain a local resource for buying moves.
- Early-item settings can place the first damaging ability locally and reserve a route into the first tome. Flappy Flight can be placed early, kept at its original check or shuffled more broadly.
- The objective remains defeating Capital B. The default configuration uses 100 pagies and the abilities required to reach his office.
- Tome order randomization, quiz skipping and optional DeathLink are available. DeathLink coverage is incomplete in this client release.
Before you start
- Use APWorld 1.0.0-beta.8 with YLRandomizer 1.0.0-beta.7.1, linked by the World release. Download the normal Windows.zip client, not the QuillieDebug variant. This is the original Yooka-Laylee; compatibility with Yooka-Replaylee is not established.
- Extract Windows.zip into the folder containing YookaLaylee64.exe. Install the APWorld on the generator, create the player YAML and generate the room. Enter the exact host, slot and optional password in the main-menu overlay before starting a new save.
- Keep the goal at its default 100 pagies: the inspected World logic hardcodes 100 despite exposing a configurable goal threshold. Other values are not consistently modeled.
- For a conservative setup, leave tome-order randomization off. The inspected World stores the order in shared state, so independently randomized Yooka-Laylee slots in one generation are not established as safe.
- The client documents Trowzer move-order constraints. The newer World explicitly requires Camo Cloak for the Flappy Flight check, but the complete set of reported conditions has not been independently verified in play.
- Back up saves and keep one dedicated save per room. The client synchronizes the loaded save with the connected slot without verifying saved room identity. Password input is displayed as ordinary text.
- Reconnection is attempted, but offline delivery of every one-time check and recovery after a failed item application are not guaranteed by the inspected code. Stay connected while collecting progression.
