Against the StormArchipelago randomizer mod

Build settlements with an economy unlocked by other worlds. Resource permissions, optional blueprints and biome keys reshape production while custom settlement achievements send checks toward reforging the final seal.

How the game changes

  • Most resource items unlock permission to acquire that resource, rather than giving a single shipment. Wood and water remain available, and embarkation goods and deconstruction are exceptions to the resource block.
  • Biome keys are enabled by default and restrict where you can embark. Checks in locked biomes are also blocked; receiving a key opens another part of the campaign.
  • Optional blueprint items replace ordinary reputation drafts with permanent essential blueprints across settlements. A separate option can retain the ordinary draft rewards alongside those items.
  • Recipe shuffle is optional, from vanilla recipes to a full shuffle. Intermediate modes preserve the Crude Workstation, Makeshift Post or both to make early production less demanding.
  • Checks cover species resolve and housing, biome reputation and victories, ghosts, giant resource nodes, archaeological reconstructions, orders, hearth upgrades and glade-event decisions.
  • A custom trade-route neighbor accepts goods for checks. Reputation milestones per biome and extra trade checks are configurable; generation may raise reputation-check density when more locations are needed for the item pool.
  • The goal is to reforge a seal in the Sealed Forest. Four Guardian items gate its stages by default. Requiring two or three tasks per stage instead of one makes the final settlement substantially harder.
  • Separate Keepers of the Stone and Nightwatchers options include their species and biomes. Coastal Grove expedition checks are configurable from zero to twenty when its DLC is enabled.
  • Filler can deliver resources, villagers and beneficial events. The mod also supports the Archipelago gifting system through ap.gift, subject to compatibility with the recipient game's implementation.
  • DeathLink is off by default. When enabled it can send on villager deaths only, or on both departures and deaths. Recipe shuffle can also be used separately without an Archipelago server.
  • World 1.2.2 uses the seed-specific random generator to choose optional trade checks. The game mod remains 1.2.1; this update changes generation, not the mod installed into the game.
Explore game mechanics

Before you start

  • Use APWorld 1.2.2 with the separately distributed game mod 1.2.1. The World archive still reports world_version 1.2.1 internally; use its release URL and recorded hash to distinguish it. The mod pins BepInExPack 5.4.2304 and ATS API 3.5.0.
  • The guide names Steam game 1.8.13 and Archipelago 0.6.4 as tested versions. Linux server downloads do not establish Linux or Proton support for the game mod. This listing covers the documented Windows route.
  • Install in a separate Thunderstore or r2modman profile and connect before starting a settlement. Use a dedicated game profile and back up saves: the suggested meta.addAll and goals.unlockAll commands change progression.
  • Training Expedition changes several normal defaults, including eighteen reputation, longer storms and starting supplies. Start with vanilla recipes and blueprint items disabled for a gentler introduction. Only enable DLC you own.
  • The APWorld now makes its trade selection seed-specific. Its recipe logic still contains an Academy name mismatch in the service-building lookup, so do not treat every blueprint/recipe combination as independently validated.
  • Room and slot memory is stored per game profile, but the received-item counter is shared. The connection shortcut does not apply the same mismatch prompt as the normal connection command. Keep profiles and campaigns separate, and do not force-connect over a campaign you want to retain.
  • Disconnected checks are queued in memory, and the mod asks the player to reconnect after a connection error. Restarting during an offline unique action or final victory is not covered by a durable replay mechanism. Confirm important checks on the server before closing.
  • Gifting remains optional. Inspection found inconsistent entries in its resource-name table, so some resources may not be recognized correctly; keep important progression exchanges on the normal item route.
  • The AP client supports explicit wss connections but can fall back to unencrypted ws when no scheme is specified. Use the protected address supplied by a trusted server operator. Its local cache path handling also lacks a verified confinement guarantee.
  • The packaged DLLs were inspected statically. Their public C# source is older than the current mod, and a complete source-to-build match has not been established. The review does not claim a completed campaign or verified compatibility with newer game versions.
