Age of Empires IVArchipelago randomizer mod
Turn match victories into multiworld progress without installing a game mod. A separate client follows AOE4World results, credits eligible wins and tracks which civilizations and win thresholds your received items have unlocked.

How the game changes
- Total-win milestones and optional civilization-specific wins become checks. A civilization-wins goal instead creates one numbered check per required victory for each selected goal civilization and ignores the global milestone settings.
- Progressive civilization items first unlock a civilization and its initial win band, then raise its credited-win cap. Global win-cap items work similarly. Targets use up to five cumulative stages; eligible wins above the current cap are retained and credited when later items arrive.
- Choose one to five random starting civilizations, optionally guaranteeing one selection, or provide an exact starting list. The active pool depends on the goal. Strategic Insight is a no-effect filler item, not a bonus applied inside the game.
- The default total-wins goal requires 20 credited victories, with 25 global milestone checks and civilization sanity enabled. Other goals target victories with every selected civilization, a solo rank or a team rank; the README still identifies rank goals as untested.
- The Tracker tab separates earned wins from currently attainable progress and displays available and locked civilizations. The client does not prevent native civilization selection; a win with a civilization still locked when processed receives no credit.
- Optional DeathLink sends a death for an eligible loss. Receiving one suppresses progress from the next eligible match within an hour instead of killing units or ending the game. Suppressions do not stack, and ranked-goal progress is unaffected.
Before you start
- The maintainer publishes aoe4.apworld in the repository rather than a tagged GitHub release. This listing pins the reviewed 0.5.1 package to commit 7b71f84 and presents it as a development snapshot, not a stable release. Install it with Archipelago 0.6.7 or newer, generate current options and launch Age of Empires IV Client.
- This is a results-based integration, not a game mod, memory reader or anti-cheat system. Play with civilizations shown as available by the tracker. The Windows Steam edition is listed; console-only queues are excluded, and Linux or Steam Deck runtime compatibility is not independently established.
- Select only civilizations you can actually play, including any required DLC. The default pool includes all supported civilizations and does not prove ownership. Generate enough checks for the progressive unlock and win-cap items; restrictive pools and check counts need validation before hosting.
- Connect the Archipelago slot, enter the numeric AOE4World profile ID, then select Start Tracking. The first successful binding establishes the tracking start time. Results are polled every 60 seconds and may appear later as the API updates. Public standard matches need no API key.
- Private visibility and enabled custom-game tracking require an optional API key entered for each client launch. It is held in memory, not placed in YAML. Custom-game eligibility does not verify map, AI, participant or lobby rules, and a supplied key is not proof of ownership of the public profile.
- Correct Bound Profile validates and confirms a replacement while preserving the original start time, but cannot undo checks, items, DeathLinks or a goal already sent from the wrong profile. Use only one active client per slot to avoid duplicated loss notifications.
- A team victory counts once for the bound player. Historical games before tracking starts do not count. DeathLinks received while offline are not replayed, and old losses emit a death only within the documented one-hour observation window. Rank goals and long-running API recovery have not been independently playtested by Panludia.
