How the game changes

  • Building, expedition, ship and selected recipe unlocks become multiworld checks. Received unlocks reshape production chains, trade between regions and the order in which your cities grow; ornaments are excluded.
  • Choose population, skyscraper and monument goals, progressive building tiers, hint visibility, starter goods and incident difficulty. Short, default, full and vanilla templates offer different starting scopes.
  • In 1.4.1 the default goal is 5,000 investors, 1,500 obreros, 4,000 artistas, 750 technicians, 1,000 scholars, 1,500 tourists and fifteen level-5 investor skyscrapers, with relevant DLCs enabled.
  • Default exclusions keep specified late thresholds and RNG-heavy recipes from holding progression items. These locations still exist, and you can edit the exclusions for your chosen goal.
  • The update corrects tourist-mooring logic and gives each Anno slot its own data, fixing generation with different DLC settings across Anno worlds in one multiworld.
  • Local unlocks support offline progress and standalone randomization. Normal co-op can share one city and one Archipelago slot; only one participant should run the AP client.
Explore game mechanics

Before you start

  • Install APWorld 1.4.1 with Archipelago 0.6.7 or newer. Generate and install the mod ZIP for your exact seed and slot in the game installation’s mods folder, enable only that AP mod and start a fresh freeplay save.
  • Match enabled DLCs in the game to your YAML. Docklands, NPC trade, socketed items and other progression-changing mods can bypass assumptions; use the upstream compatibility list for companion mods.
  • The client intentionally loses game contact while Anno is paused, including some expedition screens, and reconnects after play resumes. This local game connection is separate from the connection to the AP server.
  • Keep backups and the original seed-specific mod. The client validates the active mod’s seed, slot and version, but an independent identity check stored inside the save was not established. The maintainer declares compatibility from 1.4.0 onward.
  • Only one co-op participant should run the AP client. Separate in-game players share unlocks; that mode remains described as untested upstream. Linux/Proton setup guidance is conditional, and no runtime compatibility test was performed here.
  • The code retains unlocks for later synchronization and has receipt replay guards. Complete recovery from interruptions during item application, same-client save changes or victory transmission is not established; preserve saves before updates.
  • Use a trusted mod file and protected AP connection. The package matches the identified source code, but complete artwork/shared-helper redistribution documentation and packaged licence notices were not established. This is an evidence limit, not an allegation of unauthorised use.
