Baldur's Gate 3: Trials of TavArchipelago randomizer mod

Turn Trials of Tav's roguelike battles into multiworld progression. Combat milestones and shop purchases send checks, while other worlds deliver shop access, character bonuses, equipment and Trials rewards. This is not the normal Baldur's Gate 3 campaign.

How the game changes

  • Checks cover completed Trials stages, kills, perfect clears, RogueScore milestones and randomized shop purchases. Each activity has separate count and interval options, so check density and campaign length can be tuned independently.
  • Buying an AP shop entry sends its location check instead of granting the original reward. That reward is received through Archipelago and can be placed in another player's game.
  • Progressive Shop is enabled by default. Shop Fragment items reveal successive shop sections; smaller unlock percentages produce more fragments and finer progression. The generator requests the first fragment in this player's early local checks.
  • Choose one goal: buy the local NG+ unlock, clear a target number of Trials, or reach a target RogueScore. NG+ can additionally require a percentage of the Shop Fragments, and its local price is configurable.
  • Trials unlocks, equipment, consumables, XP and RogueScore rewards can enter the item pool. Character-bound useful rewards can target the receiving character, a random party member or the whole party; progression rewards retain global or party-wide effects.
  • Shop prices are seeded per player in multiples of ten. Shop checks containing traps are free. Pixie Blessing can optionally remain a normal local purchase instead of being randomized.
  • The shop-check setting is a minimum, not a guaranteed final count. Generation expands the shop when needed to include the configured non-filler reward copies.
  • DeathLink is optional and off by default. Sending can trigger on a party wipe, an individual death or a downed character. Incoming punishments range from party death to one-character effects, resource or action drains, or no punishment.
  • Traps can apply effects such as bleeding, confusion, blindness, silence or grease, often across the party. Their share of filler and allowed types are configurable.
  • The Quick Trial preset asks for ten clears, fewer activity checks and lower shop prices. The Release Defaults preset asks for twenty clears. Neither is a promise of a fixed play time, and the generated shop may expand beyond the preset's minimum.

Before you start

  • This integration replaces the normal campaign progression with a Trials of Tav game mode. It is distinct from the original Baldur's Gate 3 Archipelago world and appears in Archipelago as Baldur's Gate 3 - ToT.
  • Install both the 1.2.2 APWorld and ArchipelagoToT.pak from the same release. Updating only the world or only the game mod misses part of the persistence fixes.
  • The documented route uses BG3 Mod Manager, Norbyte's Script Extender and AdvancedTTSpells. Export the mod load order before launching. Optional level-expansion and extra-monster mods have additional dependencies; follow the repository README, not just the shorter bundled setup.
  • Create a dedicated new save and accept the Trials of Tav setup prompts. Keep ordinary campaign saves backed up and separate from this mod configuration.
  • The standalone Baldur's Gate 3 - ToT Client must be running. The in-game Archipelago tab mirrors and controls that client; it does not replace the process. Use the exact room slot name.
  • An open maintainer issue reports combat failing to start or rounds freezing after death and reload. The documented workarounds are a quicksave or stopping Trials, returning to camp and starting again. This is not claimed fixed by the later Shop Fragment update.
  • Compatibility with party-size-limit mods remains an open testing task. The base game's multiplayer and macOS support do not establish full support for this integration on every party configuration or operating system.
  • The generator rejects Progressive Shop configurations with too few non-shop checks for their fragment count. Reducing every combat-check category while keeping fine-grained shop progression can therefore prevent generation.
  • The bare goal option defaults to buying NG+, whereas the named Release Defaults preset chooses twenty clears. Inspect the exported options rather than assuming the preset and individual defaults are identical.
  • If the in-game connection indicator flickers while the external client stays connected, the maintainer suggests testing with a 60 or 120 FPS cap. Heartbeat status and actual server connection are distinct signals.
  • Keep one active ToT client and matching game session per local bridge directory. Several simultaneous slots sharing those bridge files are not independently validated here. No full Panludia playthrough is claimed.
