How the game changes
- Checks: Experience milestones, main and early side-quest steps, item deliveries and guaranteed lore discoveries. Optional lost artifacts add difficult hunts.
- Items: Health, skill and attribute gains; Mutant mutation progression or True Kin license points and implants; progressive main-quest access, side-quest unlocks, random equipment and optional traps.
- Goals: Five main-quest milestones are exposed, from Weirdwire Conduit through A Call to Arms. The default is Decoding the Signal.
- Options: Choose Mutant or True Kin, 4–10 XP checks per level, and 0–20 extra progression levels. DeathLink is configured in game. Trap replacement defaults to 50%, not zero.
Before you start
- Use Archipelago 0.6.7 or newer with the matching v0.8.2 mod ZIP and APWorld. Extract the mod into the game's Mods directory without renaming its folder, install the APWorld, enable the mod and start a new character in Joppa. Roleplay mode is recommended by the maintainer so death need not erase the run.
- Only the Joppa start is documented. Traps can harm important NPCs, appear above your power level, or hang/crash the game when a backlog arrives; disabling traps is the cautious choice. Some derived stat increases may be incorrect. An initial connection failure can hang character creation. Exact current game-version compatibility and runtime behavior have not been independently verified.
- Keep the client, game and APWorld versions paired; compatibility with other combinations is not established in the reviewed sources.
