How the game changes

  • Unlock weapons, melee weapons and abilities through a multiworld while completing islands, ranked runs, equipment-specific runs and pickup checks for other players.
  • Version 1.4.0 can place all 20 weapons, five melee weapons and seven abilities in the pool. A full category starts with one randomly selected usable item so the player can begin.
  • Choose 28- or 56-island runs, a required difficulty from Bronze to Prismatic, and the number of distinct equipment runs needed for victory. Higher-rank checks and rank cascades are optional.
  • New seeds count only AP-pool equipment toward the completion target. Runs with non-pool equipment may still provide bonus checks, while existing 1.3 seeds keep their original completion rule.
  • Starting equipment is removed from the item pool and replaced with filler. Guaranteed perk/mod quantities are respected; unique equipment and relics remain single copies.
  • Received perks and mods are aggregated into stacks, including additional copies of an item already present in a full inventory. Overflow queues retry when space becomes available.
  • The overlay shows connection state, incoming items and goal progress, and scouting updates pickup descriptions. Optional subset limits and redundant-check removal can reduce the size of the route.
  • Optional DeathLink applies during runs and waits while the game is paused. Greed items can be granted automatically, dropped for a choice, or excluded from the AP pool.

Before you start

  • Install the 1.4.0 APWorld and mod together. The maintainer states compatibility with 1.3 seeds; these keep the older completion rule. The client rejects a different location-ID layout before accepting the slot.
  • The documented installation uses the Windows x64 game and UE4SS 3.0.1, with Archipelago 0.6.4 or newer. Install both CrabChampionsAP and CrabInvMngmt, and preserve the required load order when merging mods.txt with an existing setup.
  • Keep an independent backup of the original game save before connecting. The mod temporarily changes equipment unlocks and account values and keeps its own backup, but backup creation and restoration are not atomic and their full success is not enforced before continuing.
  • Reconnect handling now resets crystal and overflow state, but pending checks remain in memory. Interrupted native sends, restarts and switching rooms are not protected by a durable acknowledgement ledger; verify important checks and completion after reconnecting.
  • The client can advance its received-item index after a failed grant or missing native asset. Delayed inventory batches are not explicitly tied to a connection generation, so complete interruption recovery is not established.
  • The masked room password is nevertheless saved in plaintext in ap_config.json. Treat configuration files as private. A secure transport policy could not be verified for the unidentified native networking build.
  • The distributed Lua files match the tagged source and the APWorld matches after line-ending normalization. The two native DLLs are prebuilt in that repository without complete source/build and redistribution notices; their internals and complete provenance remain unverified.
  • No independent game session was performed for this review. Linux/Proton support and compatibility with an exact game build are not established by the supplied package.
