How the game changes

  • Mission objectives, secondary objectives, warnings and optional machine events, Error Cubes and Jetty Boots scores provide checks. A space-rig terminal shows available and completed objectives.
  • Progressive items improve ammunition, movement, health, shields, mining, carrying and class tools. Received class, weapon and biome unlocks expand the available expedition routes.
  • Choose a Caretaker, Gold Rush, Hunter or Gauntlet campaign. Hunter and Gauntlet remain experimental; this review found option and check-mapping limits described below.
  • Maximum hazard and progression requirements are separate settings. Starting stats, class choice, starting weapons and an optional immediately available sprint reshape the opening difficulty.
  • Gauntlet offers staged missions, a configurable starting stage count and a starter kit. The released APWorld now limits that kit to Gauntlet; stage access in the World still differs from the advertised stage-unlock items.
  • The AP Coin Shop exchanges mission earnings for multiworld items. Gold and brewing-material conversion rates, prices and shop size are configurable.
  • Optional traps and DeathLink affect expeditions. Settings distinguish a random dwarf from the whole lobby, and mission failure from an individual downing.
  • The 0.20 release adds exclusion lists for biomes, main objectives, secondary objectives and warnings. Main-objective and biome exclusions target the Caretaker campaign; secondary/warning exclusions also affect other applicable modes.
  • The distributed APWorld 0.20.1 corrects Gold Rush check filtering and stops the Gauntlet starter kit being granted in other modes. These fixes are in the released file even though its tagged source is older.
Explore game mechanics

Before you start

  • Use the files from release 0.20 together: Archi_0.20.pak, the YAML template and deep_rock_galactic.apworld, whose internal version is 0.20.1. Archipelago 0.6.7 or later is required. The maintainer describes older-seed compatibility as uncertain; back up a run before updating.
  • Your base game save still needs the weapons, perks and mission access used by your chosen settings. Connect DRG Client before loading the game, or reload the space rig afterward. The current guide does not require naming the game save after the AP slot.
  • For the Caretaker campaign, select a specific starting biome. The all_unlocked choice encounters a missing lookup in the reviewed World. Its final Caretaker check remains hazard 5 even when a lower maximum hazard is selected, so the guide and World do not fully agree on that option.
  • Gauntlet remains experimental: the World gates later stages using general progression counts instead of Progressive-Gauntlet-Stage items. Hunter has a separate mismatch where the Twins and Hiveguard names are joined into one World entry. These findings limit confidence in those modes.
  • Avoid aggressively excluding content: if too few checks remain, generation can discard required items instead of rejecting the settings. Keep Gold Rush amounts and check increments in multiples of ten. Keep the Gauntlet starting stage count within the total stage count.
  • Restart the client when changing rooms or runs, and keep backups. Local bridge files use the slot name without a seed identity, and reconnecting clears the game-written check file. Lossless recovery of offline checks, interrupted item writes and save changes has not been established.
  • The maintainer documents shared-slot co-op; distinct AP slots in one lobby are less tested. MULE-changing mods can interfere with Error Cube checks, and Jetty Boots may need another attempt after a high score to send checks. Game Pass is unsupported.
  • The documented Windows route uses mod.io or MINT. The separate Linux loader route runs the Windows Steam game through Proton; it is not an independently verified native Linux version. Use /checkpath and /gamepath for installation paths; /resetmod deletes local mod data and is not routine reconnect troubleshooting.
  • The cooked mod package was inspected, including its files and integrity hashes, but editable Blueprint sources and complete asset/build provenance were unavailable. The badges reflect those limits and identified code paths; no independent playtest is claimed.
