How the game changes
- Checks: Usually floating Archipelago icons, with optional scripted or map-entity events. A built-in tracker lists checks in the current map.
- Items: Weapons, map keys and configurable custom items. Logic checks item capabilities so suitable custom items can replace built-in counterparts.
- Goals: Collect the required McGuffin items; the configured count is constrained by available pool space.
- Options: Map and item groups, inclusion/exclusion lists, starting map and equipment, Half-Life skill level, ammo merging, bunnyhop unlock behavior and bunnyhop/surf logic difficulty.
Before you start
- Install the gamemode with the GMAP version named by its release, plus the GWSockets binary matching the GMod branch. Release 0.3.1 specifies GMAP 0.2.1 and retains the 0.3.0 APWorld. Default map selections mainly require Half-Life 2 content. Prepare the YAML manually, select the gamemode, connect through the context menu and run the in-game requirements check.
- Not intended as a first Archipelago setup: non-standard YAML requires manual editing. Content requirements vary by map configuration, and custom Lua/addons must be trusted separately. Map changes reconnect to Archipelago; pausing single-player can also interrupt connectivity. Linux is explicitly untested. Do not assume arbitrary Workshop content is compatible or security-reviewed.
- Keep the client, game and APWorld versions paired; compatibility with other combinations is not established in the reviewed sources.
