How the game changes

  • Tickets unlock the six main destinations; coins, cassettes, keys, letters and NPC tasks become multiworld checks. Contact lists introduce quest-givers and can arrive separately or progressively.
  • Choose getting hired, collecting 76 coins, a custom coin target, restoring Gary’s Garden or helping the full Friend quest set. Friend mode enables several collection-dependent quest options.
  • Optional fish, seeds, flowers and bones can be checks alone or also received resources. Apples, bugs, conversations, thoughts, shops and achievements can expand the check list.
  • Received permits can gate swimming, catching bugs, breaking blocks, repairs, apple collecting and dialogue. Cassette exchanges support local, progressive or scattered requirements; purchases use collection thresholds without spending the coins or cassettes.
  • The paired update adds Public Pool hint-frog conversations and corrects swimming, repair, contact-list and elevator requirements. The client adjusts bug movement, Bone Dog hints and the mouse cursor under Wine/Proton.
  • Optional DeathLink reloads the current level, with a configurable hazard allowance. TrapLink shares enabled effects, while timed traps can alter movement, camera, size or position.
Explore game mechanics

Before you start

  • Use mod 0.8.8 with APWorld 0.8.5; the World declares Archipelago 0.6.3 or newer. The two components have different version numbers. Install the World, prepare your player settings, generate and host the room, then connect with its assigned slot.
  • The World guide recommends BepInEx 5.4.23.3 for Unity Mono x64. Launch once, then put all three DLLs directly in BepInEx/plugins. Open the Archipelago icon in the game menu to connect. Keep a backup of the normal save before installing.
  • Fully restart before changing slots or hosted seeds, including when keeping the same player name. The save filename includes seed and slot, but the reuse check and other static state do not provide complete isolation between connections.
  • Start With Ticket and the Hired goal are the simplest documented starting configuration. Leave the larger collection modes off for a shorter route. Achievement checks are off by default; the World adds a Garden-related Lost at Sea rule, but that change is not a verified playthrough.
  • The maintainer still lists occasional freezes, Mitch and Mai dialogue problems and inaccurate whiteboard counts. These remain relevant to the current release; the new fixes do not establish their resolution.
  • Stay connected while completing checks and important quest steps. Some in-memory checks are resubmitted after login, but there is no complete durable resend mechanism for every offline action or interrupted item effect.
  • Coin and Hired goals have explicit client conditions. For Garden, the client finishes from the Gary flag while the World event requires ten received seeds; full equivalence is not established. Verify the room’s completion status after reaching a goal.
  • The AP interface still requires a mouse and keyboard. The documented Linux route is the Windows game under Proton with a winhttp override; the new cursor fix does not establish native Linux support.
  • Connection settings write the entered room password to the mod log. Keep logs private or redact that value before sharing them. An explicit wss:// host avoids the network library’s fallback to unencrypted transport.
  • The plugin includes embedded UI and art bundles. Their detailed asset provenance and complete packaged notices were not available in the reviewed evidence; this is an evidence limitation rather than a finding about the maintainer’s intent.
