How the game changes
- Squad achievements and clearing each of the four islands provide checks. Configure between three and thirteen included squads rather than requiring the entire roster every time.
- Squad unlock items expand the available teams. Optional squad randomization redistributes units, while a custom-squad mode and unit plando offer more control.
- Permanent upgrades improve starting grid power, grid defense and starting reactor cores. Other rewards supply extra power or cores during play.
- Victory requires winning a run at the selected minimum difficulty with enough achievement checks completed. Easy is the default, with a configurable achievement threshold rather than mandatory full completion.
- Traps can introduce airstrikes, boulders, lightning, snow, wind, falling terrain or a boss enemy. They are part of the published filler pool, not merely cosmetic effects.
- DeathLink is selected in the in-game connection window. A linked death drains the grid and can end the current run; ordinary defeat can notify other linked players.
- The client includes an EnergyLink reputation exchange and gifting support. Their availability depends on compatible other clients; they are separate from normal progression items.
Before you start
- The standalone APWorld asset is v0.15.18, but the dependency archive uploaded under that same tag embeds a v0.15.19 APWorld. The code files match; the manifest and bundled mapping differ. Choose the asset deliberately. The standalone manifest requires Archipelago 0.6.0 or later.
- The mod loader targets the Windows game. Native macOS and Linux Steam builds are not covered by this integration review, and Proton compatibility is not independently established.
- Enable the randomizer, modApiExt and memedit in Mod Content. Follow the guide's memedit calibration instructions when prompted; this is not a simple plugin-only installation.
- Create a fresh, uniquely named profile and back up existing profiles. Run the guide's makeitso console command once for that profile, restart, then connect from the in-game room form.
- Squad randomization defaults to enabled and needs additional generation libraries. If those dependencies cannot be installed, explicitly set randomize_squads to false before generating.
- An unresolved report describes Immortal and Overkill achievements not checking, possibly after a mid-run restart. The maintainer requested details but no resolution is recorded; avoid requiring every achievement.
- The default achievement target is 24% of included squad achievements. It is a gameplay option, not a measured success rate. More squads or a higher target can require several tactical runs.
- Traps are not exposed as a simple off toggle in the reviewed options. Received rewards may queue until a suitable game or mission state; fully offline play is not established.
