How the game changes

  • Mission completions and additional school-day events provide checks, including surviving Tuesday, visiting Study Hall and selected character interactions.
  • Eight persistent inventory unlocks are supplied through Archipelago, including Bob's Toolbelt, an A+, the Prestigious Pin and Faculty Remote. These change which missions can be attempted on later days.
  • Monstermon cards are shuffled by default, adding a check and an item for each card. Optional outfit shuffle adds costume checks and supplies a starting outfit automatically.
  • Money shuffle starts days with received funds instead of the normal allowance. Its value from one to four controls each progressive starting-money bundle; zero restores vanilla money handling.
  • When money is shuffled, six opportunities to obtain money become additional checks. The generator requests enough early money items to provide at least three dollars.
  • Choose the Creature Feature finale, all missions, or the Monstermon secret ending as the goal. Creature Feature is the default and the simplest documented goal to start with.
  • Filler choices include Nothing, Pocket Change, additional money and Janitor Trap. DeathLink is separately configurable; neither traps nor linked deaths are required to randomize progression.

Before you start

  • Use the game ZIP and APWorld from release 1.1.3. This release is from December 2024, not 2026; present-day game and Archipelago compatibility have not been independently replayed by Panludia.
  • Prefer a separate copy of the installed Windows game. Extract the contents of the ZIP's Archipelagarten 1.1.3 folder beside Kindergarten2.exe, including its bundled BepInEx files, rather than leaving everything one directory too deep.
  • Edit ArchipelagoConnectionInfo.json with the room and slot details before launching Kindergarten2.exe. The mod closes the game after a failed initial connection; it is not an offline-first installation.
  • The APWorld's bundled setup and overview are accidental DLC Quest documentation. Do not use their DLCQuest installer or campaign instructions; follow this repository's current README and Kindergarten-specific release notes.
  • The mod uses all three visible save slots for the connected Archipelago adventure. The author says vanilla saves remain separate but inaccessible while modded; back them up and retain an unmodified game copy.
  • Mission unlocks, cards and outfits are restored when the next bedroom save is initialized. Receiving an item does not necessarily rewrite the current mission halfway through the school day.
  • For a conservative first run, keep Creature Feature, leave DeathLink off and choose Pocket Change or Money without Traps. Keep at least one filler type selected: the released generator does not handle an empty filler selection when filler is needed.
  • The tagged client still contains debug death shortcuts on I, O and P. Avoid those keys during normal play; the Janitor Trap error-handling path also contains an uninitialized logger, another reason not to enable traps for a first run.
  • Only the Windows package is documented. Steam's native Linux and macOS builds do not establish mod compatibility, and public issue creation is restricted, limiting independently visible feedback.
