How the game changes

  • World pickups, Strange Coins and NPC gifts are shuffled. Weapons, spells, key items, vouchers and consumables can arrive from other players.
  • Choose any ending or a particular ending route. The Strange Coin route has adjustable required and total coin counts; the final spell-based route needs its corresponding collection and story conditions.
  • Vampiric Symbols can form a progressive chain. Optional switch, door and secret-wall locks add received access items, including a role for the Dusty Crystal Orb.
  • Optional shops, enemy drops, weapon quenching, alchemy, lore, level gains, foliage and breakables expand the check pool. More checks can mean substantially more repetition.
  • Starting class and area, entrance shuffle, equipment properties and experimental enemy shuffle change the adventure. Tricks can be opted into rather than assumed by the default setting.
  • DeathLink and Silver Link are available. Filler and traps have configurable weights, and a separate gifting system exchanges repeatable extras with compatible games.
  • Bestial Communion can reveal hints. The mod pauses item delivery until an appropriate game state and preserves AP save data in a separate ArchSaves directory.
Explore game mechanics

Before you start

  • Use the paired 1.1.2 mod archive and APWorld. Extract the mod at the game executable, launch once, then connect while creating a new AP character. Back up existing saves.
  • Windows is packaged directly. Linux uses the documented Proton/Wine winhttp override, not a native Linux client. Follow the installation guide for the exact override.
  • For a conservative first run, leave entrance shuffle, experimental enemy shuffle and challenge modes off. No Logic and No EXP challenges explicitly do not promise a winnable run.
  • Avoid a Forsaken start without checking the supplied weapon or spell is usable. The mechanics guide warns that insufficient spell resources can require restarting with a different build.
  • Received keys may need an area reload before doors react. For talismans, the maintainer also suggests revisiting their chests. A connected-looking client that stops sending checks should be reported, not treated as healthy.
  • A completed-run report describes an asymmetric surface entrance and an ineffective Check Compass. Another report identifies a hostname-length limit. Use a short, stable server address and port when possible.
  • Port-change instructions conflict: the packaged setup describes a title-menu option, while the repository README suggests editing JSON and a player reports encoded saves. Do not edit or share a save blindly to change connection details.
  • Offline delivery of the optional gifting system is reported unreliable. This is distinct from ordinary AP progression items; do not rely on gifts as an asynchronous progression mechanism.
