How the game changes

  • Time-trial checkpoints, clears and one-star ratings provide the main checks. Two-star and three-star ratings are separate optional additions, both disabled by default. This is not a randomizer for the story campaign.
  • Five selected levels start unlocked. Open World instead supplies all level unlocks from the start, while movement abilities still determine which routes you can complete.
  • Nineteen movement abilities and extensions are distributed as items, including Sprint, Climb, Vault, Swing, Wall Run, Wall Climb and Zipline. The client actually restricts and restores these actions, rather than merely asking the player to avoid them.
  • Starting Ability Count supplies zero to eight randomly selected abilities. Zero is the intended default. Combining several starting abilities with Open World leaves fewer progression gates and can change the pace substantially.
  • Regular logic targets more casual routes. Advanced expects tighter execution and creative use of objects, but does not assume glitches or professional speedrunning movement.
  • The default goal requires fifteen of twenty Runner Bags plus completion of a selected final level. Runner Bag Hunt finishes on the required bag count alone. Total and required bags are configurable from one to twenty-five.
  • Star-rating target times can be adjusted from ninety to two hundred percent, defaulting to one hundred. Level-specific one-, three- and five-second bonus items reduce your effective time. Half of eligible filler becomes useful time bonuses by default.
  • Four optional traps affect health, friction, speed or field of view. Traps default to zero percent. A separate field-of-view setting defaults to ninety degrees, and Universal Tracker can be embedded in the client when installed.
  • The Pure Time Trial Pack adds ten optional DLC levels. It is disabled by default and requires an independently working DLC installation before generating with it.

Before you start

  • This listing is for the original Mirror's Edge on Windows Steam, not Catalyst. The client requires Windows memory and remote-thread APIs plus Archipelago 0.6.7 or later. Other storefronts, Linux and Proton are not supported by the reviewed guide.
  • Install mirrors_edge.apworld, launch the game and reach the main menu showing Story, Race, Options and Extras. Only then open Mirror's Edge Client and connect your room and slot. Do not attach from the preceding splash screen, another menu or an active level.
  • The APWorld bundles the client; there is no separate game-mod archive. Keep that client running and connected, and wait for its process-found message before beginning the time trials.
  • The guide identifies a 31,946,072-byte MirrorsEdge.exe with a published SHA-256. Later executable changes can break runtime attachment. DxWrapper is documented as compatible, but its installation is outside the maintainer's support scope.
  • The client locks the normal level and time-trial menus to apply the seed's unlocks. Keep a backup of ordinary progress, do not run unrelated gameplay mods alongside it, and restart the game and client before switching rooms.
  • DLC trials share an internal menu index with Playground One. Unlocking one can make the others visible, but the client still refuses checks for trials whose actual AP license is missing. A visible menu entry is not proof of an unlocked check.
  • Adjusted star targets and received time bonuses are shown in the AP client, not reflected in the game's ordinary target display. Follow the client when checking what time is required.
  • Higher-star locations use broad movement requirements in placement logic but can be completed early if you manage the run. Enabling difficult ratings can lengthen a room even with generous time bonuses.
  • Version 1.1 changed item and location identifiers and is not compatible with 1.0 seeds. The maintainer explicitly says 1.2 remains compatible with 1.1 seeds. Keep the matching campaign and slot together; disconnected trial recovery is not independently established.
  • Menu locking has received timing and robustness improvements, including a tentative fix in 1.1. The 1.2 release refines timings again. Panludia has not independently completed a campaign or verified every affected setup; no DeathLink or native co-op is added.
