GAME MECHANICS

Explore game mechanics

Browse possible checks, rewards and settings. What appears in your game depends on your World options.

Source catalog Release 0.2.8

Track names and album unlocks are generated from the music you choose. This page lists the supported check families and five fixed reward types. Its counts describe catalogue entries, not the number of tracks or items in your seed.

Browse the gameplay families that can send checks to your multiworld.

Tracks before the final entry of each album

Finish playback of a selected track to send its check. These entries can contain the shuffled album unlocks and junk rewards.

Listening checks

Final listed track of each album

The final entry in each selected album has a check with a fixed Album finished! reward. Playing it does not require earlier tracks to have been completed.

Listening checks

Playing with others

Each participant uses a music client connected to an Archipelago slot and the generated World/JSON for that selection. Album unlocks can be found in other slots, and track checks can send their rewards elsewhere. This is separate listening progress, not synchronized group audio playback.

Known scope and limitations

  • The published generator does not account for every fixed completion reward when sizing a multi-album item pool. A static three-album example has eight shuffled items for six available checks; multi-album generation remains unresolved.
  • Use distinct album/track names and avoid repeating the same track across selections. ASCII-normalized names become dictionary keys, while the client indexes tracks by URI; collisions can collapse separate entries. Empty albums also have no final-track marker.
  • The README mentions playlists, but both shipped get_playlist_with_tracks methods return None. The local backend imports folders; OpenSubsonic implements album and artist search. The supplied backends also expose track playback paths that do not consistently enforce Allow playing any track.
  • Standard completion can be reached by playing only the final listed track in each album. Experimental all-track completion changes the client report but leaves the World’s album-marker condition intact.
  • Keep the generated APWorld and its matching JSON together. Exact tracks and names cannot be reconstructed without that selection. The Windows executables were not rebuilt or run, and the generated template documentation still contains placeholders.
