How the game changes
- Pencil Hat, Water Hat, Sunglasses and key items are shuffled, alongside cosmetic hats and trophies. Received story tools open the next parts of the adventure.
- Trophies, dancing bugs, shop purchases and story events such as defeating Giant Robots provide checks.
- Optional Coinsanity turns freestanding coins into checks. Received coin bundles then count as progression because shop purchases require enough money from the multiworld.
- The goal is defeating Mr. Sunshine at Sunshine HQ. Access depends on the story's key hats, Magnetic Card, Cabin Key and Detonator, not a separate selectable goal list.
- Pencil Hat placement can be early in your own world, early anywhere in the multiworld, or fully shuffled. Early Global is the default; Early Local reduces dependence on other players at the start.
- DeathLink uses respawn or encounter-restart paths and has configurable amnesty plus an in-client on/off override. It is optional; co-op campaign randomization is not part of this integration.
- Piku's color can remain unchanged, vary by screen, vary by seed or use a chosen color. This cosmetic option does not alter progression.
- The 0.3.6 package fixes the random-per-screen colour setting. Its reviewed code also handles shop goods already received from Archipelago so they can still send the purchase check.
- F1 provides an area-restart helper. F6 can reconstruct hats, objects and missing trophies from received-item history when the game is ready; it deliberately does not rebuild coin balances.
Before you start
- Use the mod package labelled 0.3.6 with APWorld 0.3.1, Archipelago 0.6.7 or later and the required BepInEx5 package. The mod DLL and title-screen label still report 0.3.5; include the archive version as well when reporting a problem.
- Install BepInEx in the Windows game directory, launch once, then extract the mod ZIP into BepInEx/plugins. Adventure opens the AP connection screen. Linux and macOS support is not established by this package review.
- Back up your game saves and AP sidecars. The mod creates per-seed saves, but its native save and item-receipt cursor are separate writes; interrupted saves or a corrupt sidecar can lose or replay item effects.
- The last room password is stored in plain text in last_connection.txt in the game's persistent-data directory. Keep that file private when sharing logs or backups.
- Keep the client connected while playing. Failed check submissions and the final-victory signal are not durably retried in every failure case; complete offline synchronization is not established.
- Piku & Niku co-op levels remain unimplemented and hidden from normal options. Do not enable coop_levels manually for this adventure.
- Fully shuffling the Pencil Hat can leave few opening checks. Early Local reduces initial dependence on other players; the three late Sunshine HQ exclusions still allow filler rewards.
- The APWorld's actual Forest Dancing Bug rule requires the Water Hat through the Valley Revisited route. One line differs from its tagged source; the distributed file was used for this review.
- The mod source is licensed, but the release ZIP lacks a complete licence/notice set for its bundled dependencies. Its native networking library was not fully reviewed; this is a scope limitation, not an allegation about its behavior.
