How the game changes
- Checks: The source references 7,315 addressable pickup, secret, exit and all-kills candidates across five campaigns. A seed selects one campaign and a subset of its maps, so this is not a per-seed count. The default configuration guarantees nine checks in Quake End; other checks depend on map selection and pickup sampling.
- Items: The World defines 397 item names across weapons, ammunition capacity, keys, inventory, automaps, movement and interaction abilities, and traps. Two names, Power Shield and Anti-Grav Belt, share local item ID 307; the published engine config has one entry for that ID, and in-game handling was not tested.
- Goals: Choose boss, level-exit, secret or All completion, with a configurable required percentage. All combines the included-map exits and secrets; it does not add a separate boss requirement.
- Options: Five supported campaigns, game and logic difficulty, pickup inclusion rates, vanilla-reward overrides, ability gates, area-map access, traps and DeathLink. The release notes also describe AP commands and item/location hints in the engine.
Before you start
- Use the 1.2.3 quake.apworld and matching ironwail_ap.zip on Windows x64. Supply PAK0.pak and PAK1.pak from your owned Quake installation, plus your own selected expansion data. Fill ap_connect_info.json and configure the added AP key bindings.
- The World covers Quake, Scourge of Armagon, Dissolution of Eternity, Dimension of the Machine and Dimension of the Past. The updated engine base mentions Dawn of the Machine, but that does not add an APWorld campaign or reviewed multiworld checks for it.
- Vanilla rewards for pickups excluded from the seed are configurable; this requires matching engine/World and a new seed. Existing saves retain their saved entities. Level-entry inventory restoration supports routes that require restarting a map.
- Native saves check the room seed and slot, but complete server-state recovery, offline check delivery and interrupted item application are not established. Keep the connection active and back up your native saves and connection files before replacing the build.
- The bundle supplies modified scripts and AP models rather than complete game/expansion data. Licensed base-game QuakeC sources were found; full expansion-script/native-component provenance and rebuild correspondence remain incomplete. AP networking also retains reviewed transport and message-handling limits.
