RefunctArchipelago randomizer mod

Restore a floating landscape with a movement toolkit delivered from other worlds. Platforms and buttons send checks, grass items count toward your goal, and optional minigames add very different platforming challenges.

How the game changes

  • The first platform cluster starts unlocked. Other clusters, Ledge Grab, two Progressive Wall Jump upgrades, Jump Pads, Swim, Pipes and Lifts arrive as multiworld items. Platform, button and optional cube actions send checks.
  • Received Grass items determine completion progress. The default supplies 100 Grass items and requires 70, followed by reaching the selected goal button or platform. Alternative goals can be fixed, random or initially hidden; flowers fill unused reward space.
  • Version 1.8.0 adds Relocate: find three photographed viewpoints and match both location and camera orientation. Each successful scene provides a location/camera pair of checks, for six checks in total. The scene selection is tied to the slot data.
  • Seven weighted minigames are selected by default, each with an unlock item. Set the number to zero for the main landscape alone, or adjust weights to select activities. Optional Nerf Minigame Checks substitutes local flower rewards in many minigames.
  • Block Brawl and Block Blub can now be played offline through their own menu with adjustable settings. These practice activities are separate from the checks available in an Archipelago slot.
  • The updated minigame menu and Relocate guide image accompany the new mode. Defunct variants, climbing and other optional activities remain available; hold-R recovery and New Game reconstruction support returning from difficult layouts.
  • Optional visual and movement effects have finite restoration timers, and DeathLink can be toggled. Showing other connected players is disabled by default and does not combine multiple players into one shared progression slot.
Explore game mechanics

Before you start

  • Use the 1.8.0 APWorld with the matching Windows or Linux practice archive. The manifest declares Archipelago 0.6.7 or newer. The maintainer targets the Steam edition, build 5753767; other game builds and compatibility layers have not been independently validated by Panludia.
  • Launch Refunct first, then the supplied refunct-tas program. Open the M menu, connect and choose New Game in Refunct to construct the AP landscape. Linux uses a native librtil.so preload route and requires a compatible Linux game build; the Steam store currently lists Windows. A Windows DLL is not interchangeable with that library, and Proton compatibility has not been established.
  • The maintainer documents intermittent startup crashes, graphics-driver problems and attachment conflicts. Use the versioned troubleshooting guide and diagnostics, while avoiding broad changes to system security settings or unrelated processes.
  • New Game reconstructs received progression, and reconnecting restores server-acknowledged checks. Minigame runs are not generally saved in progress. Newly performed checks have no durable acknowledgement queue, so verify important checks and final completion after a disconnect.
  • Use a dedicated process/session for the chosen room and keep backups. Version mismatch warnings exist, but the connection handler does not fully reject incompatible state before applying it. A displayed connection alone is not proof that the intended world configuration has been accepted.
  • Some minigame descriptions call modes disabled although their actual weights are nonzero. Custom Minigame needs a separately obtained map; set its weight to zero for a self-contained setup. Maximum Grass with a 100% requirement can cause solo fill failures.
  • Random block layouts may require regeneration, while climbing and dash activities demand extra skill. Relocate expects camera alignment as well as position. Disable unwanted minigames through their weights; offline practice does not replace a matching live slot.
  • The tool accepts local scripts and controls the running game. Use only a trusted local package and scripts. Its networking dependency can fall back from TLS to unencrypted WebSocket, so the ordinary connection form does not guarantee encrypted transport. Keep room details and diagnostic logs private.
