How the game changes

  • Checks: Campaign keys, selected weapons, ammo, healing, lore pickups and special radio/photo events across named rooms.
  • Items: Key and puzzle ingredients, selected weapons, difficulty-scaled ammo and healing; combination results retain the vanilla crafting steps.
  • Goals: Ordinary or Artifact ending in the World; the reviewed client's victory reporting does not enforce the selected Artifact goal.
  • Options and controls: YAML ending and DeathLink settings; F8 revisits entered areas and F11 opens storage. The newer 0.2.5 adds an early-item setting and in-game DeathLink selection.

Before you start

  • Release v0.2.5 is newer, but its maintainer explicitly recommends returning to v0.1.2 because of reported issues. This page keeps the reviewed v0.1.2 downloads as its main reference; badges describe that version. The recommendation is the maintainer's, not a claim of independently played stability.
  • Use your owned Steam PC copy with MelonLoader 0.5.7 and the paired v0.1.2 mod ZIP, APWorld and YAML. The guide documents Archipelago 0.5.0 or newer, without a precise game-version matrix. Connect from the in-game settings before starting or loading the intended save. The older guide describes an invisible-cursor workaround; use its controls with care.
  • Campaign key items, selected weapons, ammo and healing pickups become checks. Items produced by combining ingredients remain vanilla combinations, including the Butterfly Key and weapon/key puzzles. F8 revisits already-entered levels; F11 opens storage. Repeated Mynah-fight ammo and disabled Rotfront blockers are intended to reduce progression traps.
  • The World can select the ordinary or Artifact ending, but the reviewed client sends victory from ordinary endings and EndCredits without checking the chosen Artifact prerequisites. Do not treat the AP goal signal as confirmation that the chosen ending was completed.
  • The newer v0.2.5 adds a fixed-start-item option and corrects wooden-doll classification and some locations. Its packaged generation code still retains items while omitting their checks or placing starting items separately, so some option combinations have mismatched pool/check counts. The v0.1.2 World also keeps the dolls as useful despite requiring them in access logic. Inspect generation results rather than assuming either archive is free of logic limits.
  • The v0.1.2 client expects a DeathLink slot field that its World does not export, and its death handler does not guard an absent service. The v0.2.5 moves selection into the in-game form, while its release still warns about DeathLink. Interrupted login and delivery paths remain limited; keep DeathLink disabled initially and use a fresh game process when changing rooms.
  • Keep separate save copies for different AP rooms and slots. The mod stores progression in the native save without an AP seed/slot binding. Offline check resend, repeated item history and interrupted victory delivery have gaps; return to the menu and verify server checks and inventory after an interruption rather than collecting unique checks offline.
  • The password field is visible, so hide it when streaming or sharing captures. Use an explicit wss:// AP host when the server supports TLS; an unspecified address can fall back to plaintext. F9 is a local item-test shortcut, not part of the normal setup. Complete plugin/dependency notices, source-banner permission, safe data-cache handling and native mod build provenance remain unestablished; the mod ZIP itself has only two DLLs and identifier tables, with no playable game assets identified.
