COMMUNITY INTEGRATION

TimberbornArchipelago randomizer mod

Build a beaver colony with blueprints delivered by other worlds. Science buys multiworld checks, while population, well-being and survival milestones give the colony a longer-term direction. This is a pre-alpha integration awaiting confirmed support for the current game update.

How the game changes

  • Folktails and Iron Teeth have faction-specific building pools. Shuffle randomizes science-unlocked buildings; Grand Chaos also includes basic infrastructure and is a substantially more demanding option.
  • An in-game Archipelago shop offers four branching paths of checks paid for with science. Building, population and well-being requirements gate later purchases; optional milestones reward colony development and surviving hazardous cycles.
  • Received items include building blueprints, resources, extra beavers, boosts and weather traps. Scout items reveal a shop path, while Skip items let you claim a check without paying its science cost.
  • Progressive building chains unlock successive tiers, such as Platform, Double Platform and Triple Platform. Chains can be enabled together, disabled or selected randomly per seed.
  • Choose one or several colony goals and require any or all of them. The published options include Wonder, Population, Droughts, Badtides, Well-being, Bots and Water Storage, but not every goal currently works: see the limitations before generating.
  • Science prices, survival targets and strict versus standard logic adjust the campaign. Force Early Items and Extra Early Survival are enabled by default to improve access to essential infrastructure.

Before you start

  • Do not treat this as a current-game compatibility guarantee. Client 0.0.5.2 was published for the 1.0-era game; Timberborn 1.1 became public on September 3. The maintainer announces a future mod 0.1.0 targeting 1.1, but that release was not available in the reviewed release list. Confirm a supported game version with the maintainer before installation.
  • The published package contains a Windows asset bundle. Linux and macOS integration support are not established by the base game's platform list. The maintainer calls this a pre-alpha playtest build.
  • Use the client Archipelago.zip from 0.0.5.2, extracted into Documents/Timberborn/Mods, and enable it in the game's mod manager. The host uses timberborn.apworld and Timberborn.yaml from the separate APWorld 0.0.5 release with Archipelago 0.6.7 or later; the client hotfix intentionally leaves the world unchanged.
  • Water Storage silently fails on both factions, and the Bots goal is documented as unwinnable for Folktails. Exclude those combinations when generating, particularly when all selected goals are required. These are upstream-known limitations, not bugs independently reproduced by Panludia.
  • Wonder completion was repaired in client 0.0.5.2 through a workaround: the faction Wonder is bought with its normal 20,000 science instead of arriving as an Archipelago blueprint. Older client versions can leave that goal impossible.
  • Hungry and Thirsty Beavers traps are documented as ineffective; boosts also affect bots. Higher-tier items can arrive in early shop slots, and the Population victory can log an unknown-location warning even though the goal is sent.
  • Match the save's faction to the seed and keep a separate backed-up colony for each slot. Save/load persistence and item-index fixes exist, but this review does not establish crash-proof delivery or safe switching of an existing colony between seeds. Stay connected while claiming checks.
  • Game hotkeys can fire while entering connection details. The release notes recommend entering them from the main-menu AP panel. The author reports a completed asynchronous playtest, not exhaustive coverage of factions, goals or game versions.
