Vertical Drop Heroes HDArchipelago randomizer mod
Descend through randomized runs, buying merchant unlocks, village upgrades and shortcut crystals for multiworld rewards. Received skills rebuild the hero-selection pool; permanent upgrades and optional level-access items shape your descent. Shrines keep their ordinary effects while supplying checks, and the Chosen One finale is the client’s victory trigger.

How the game changes
- 261 possible checks, with 181 enabled by default: merchant unlocks, hub purchases, random shrine activations, shortcut crystals, level exits and a finale reward.
- Fifty permanent skill unlocks and five progressive families for damage, maximum health, orb XP, deeper starts and level access.
- Four weighted run supplies and an optional Alarm Trap; eleven World settings cover depth, prices, check counts and outgoing Death Link amnesty.
- The client marks victory after the Chosen One gauntlet. The World separately models access to that finale from the required received upgrades.
Before you start
- The published APWorld manifest identifies 0.4.0 and requires Archipelago 0.6.7. Internal defs.py version 0.3.2 and the GML’s v0.3.2 dev build stamp were retained in this release; version provenance is stated separately from these internal labels.
- A locked next level retires the hero and returns to village selection while retaining permanent progress. It does not preserve the active hero and does not count as a Death Link death.
- The World completion predicate tests received-item access to level eleven; the distributed client sends its actual victory status after the finale. These are different signals, with no separate defeated-boss event in World generation.
- Configurations with too few reward checks trim useful skill unlocks from the end of the secondary-power list. At zero shrines with level locks and both optional check categories off, the final nine are omitted; progression items remain.
- The native AP bridge and the player’s resulting patched game data were not independently rebuilt or playtested. The reviewed integration targets single-player Windows runs; Proton is untested and the co-op paths are outside this mod’s AP connection flow.
