COMMUNITY INTEGRATION

Final DOOM: The Plutonia ExperimentArchipelago randomizer mod

Explore Plutonia through a multiworld route: new maps, weapons and their local keys arrive from other games. Select campaign sections and decide whether victory requires every enabled map, a smaller count or particular destinations.

Choose the documented game and integration versions and follow the original installation instructions.

Compatibility notes

  • Use your own PLUTONIA.WAD. Steam's DOOM + DOOM II collection includes The Plutonia Experiment; the artwork and review count here represent that shared collection. This is a separate world from TNT and the original DOOM II campaign.
  • Install final_doom_plutonia.apworld into both Archipelago's custom_worlds folder and APDoom's games folder. Generate a slot for Final DOOM (Plutonia), then select it in the APDoom launcher. Keep the APWorld intact: it includes the supplementary PlutoniaExtras.wad. The optional plutmidi.wad music pack is not required.
  • Use the current APDoom 2.0 client with its July custom-world loading hotfix and Archipelago 0.6.3 or newer. The June world version is not the client version; do not follow the README's outdated beta download link.
  • Prefer original DOS WAD data. The client detects supported Steam installs; otherwise put PLUTONIA.WAD beside APDoom. Rerelease WADs and unrelated gameplay modifications are not guaranteed compatible.
  • Start from a fresh client directory and preserve old saves. Do not mix APDoom 1.2's 32-bit dependencies with version 2.0, or change a room's world package midway through a campaign without compatibility guidance.
  • Keep Trick Difficulty at None, Allow Death Logic off and ammunition capacity at its defaults for a conservative setup. More demanding logic may require speedrunning techniques or resetting a map after a failed one-attempt puzzle.
  • This review checked the package hash, manifest, campaign settings and shared generator rules, not a complete playthrough. Windows and Linux/AppImage, including Steam Deck, are documented client platforms. This does not establish same-map co-op or certify every dependency.
